Hello all
I'm 22 and will hopefully be travelling on the Best of USA trip in December 2008. I'm hoping to spend some extra time over there either before and/or after to visit Canada and spend a bit more time checking out America but i've never travelled before and have no idea where to start or what to do ...does anyone have any suggestions or tips??
i'm also travelling by myself so if anyone has any ideas to stay and do some other sightseeing, let me know and i'm sure we can work something out!!

Have a read thru the trip forum, and even check out other sites (just google "travel blog")...

If you are travelling solo, i think tours like this are ur best bet. everything is planned for you (accomodation, travel, general daily itineraries). Even though it's not the cheapest, i think it's the best value for money.

I'm trying to organise accomodation in hawaii for 2 weeks, and it's already driving me up the wall hehehe...

so if you're still unsure of where u wanna go, i recommend that u just keep researching. it's a big investment, but will definitely be worth it.

i started with flights, and worked my way round. Best of USA starts on 14 Dec, but have decided to fly to LA on 9 Dec (the last day before prices rise for the peak period). and because i've always wanted to go hawaii, i've included this at the end of the tour too...

so in the end it's up to you (how much time you have, what your budget is...) but research research research!!

Im also looking at going to Canada for 4 days from the 26th -30th december then heading back to NY for new years but other than those basic outlines i have no idea what i'm doing lol its very exciting though !

I'm all booked and ready to go yay! im heading to LA from Sydney on 9th December so will be spending a few extra days in LA before the tour..im interested in going to universal, disneyland and other places before the tour so if anyone else has planned this, please email me and maybe we can get a few of us to go together because i am going on the tour on my own and would prefer to enjoy LA's best with other people. Kathryn, are you still looking at going to Canada while you're over there?? I'm traveling alone too and would love to see canada so i was thinking of maybe going there no the 26th (after the tour finishes) until the 30th and then flying back to new york on the 30th december for New Years Eve.

I haven't introduced myself to you! My name is Brendan, and I'm going solo as well! I arrive in LA on the 9th too. On the 10th, I've booked to go to Knott's Berry Farm, and on the 11th-13th, i have booked a 3-day disney pass. Hopefully a big group of us can meet up sumwhere hey!

Hey my friends and I are staying in downtown LA instead of Anaheim (was looking at the Super 8 u suggested Brendan but I was in the minority ) from 9th til the tour starts.

At this stage, we're not sure of what to do... When do u arrive on 9th? And will u be going with anyone to the theme parks?

That sounds great...maybe we could go to Knott's Berry farm and disney together with whoever else wants to come too...that would be great!! what do you think??

woohooo we're off to USA lol yay!!

oh no... we're staying downtown cos we'll be in anaheim for the tour which is pretty far from central LA. with the 2 free days on the tour, we'd do disney and knotts. we'll probably do another disney day before the tour, but apart from that, just stay downtown, spend more time in hollywood, check out santa monica/venice beach, or even a day trip down to san diego... even check out the tonight show with jay leno, UCLA... which is all around downtown...

even though we do have a tour of LA on the first day, it's gona be full-on which doesn't mean that much time at each place.

but i hear LA has a great public transport system. even if we don't get to join u at the theme parks, maybe we can meet up somewhere and check out a cool bar or something... will let u know once we figure out exactly what we're doing

hey there's also a FB contiki application. just search "contiki", and u can add our trip. but it's a bit silly cos u can't actually add our travel mates directly off the app. and there's no wall... oh well...

Hi Everyone!

I've also booked this tour for Dec 14, I'm 22 from Brisbane and am travelling solo. I can't wait! After this tour ends I am doing the Eastern Discovery tour, to make the most of my time there, seeing as the airfares are super expensive that time of year.

It will be great to have gotten to know some people before the tour starts! That'll help with the nerves a bit!

I was supposed to be travelling alone but now my best friend will be joining me so we are both Extremely excited !!
