hey Lana how was the trip? what would you say were the highlights of your tour?

do u have any recommendations as to which optionals are good and which ones you thought were not worth doing?

i was thinking of doing all of the optionals except one of the helicopter tours in NY. there's 2 of them and ive chosen the one that covers more places than the other (costs a bit more)

what did u do whilst in vegas besides casinos?

were the hotels you stayed in nice? and did u end up staying at the hotel Beacon in NY? i booked a few extra nights there after the tour ends.

The trip was amazing and goes so so quick so enjoy every bit of it.
i think everyone has their own highlights But when your on this trip the whole thing becomes a highlight every bit of it.

i did as many optionals as i could, not many of us did the helicopter ride over the grand canyon but i would recomend it, its really amazing and breath taking landing at the bottom. my best advice would be to do what interests you for example some ppl said they heard the tv and movie tour was a waste in New York so didnt do it but i did that anyway and it was awesome and i would of been devo if i had missed out on it. I didnt do the helicopter tour over new york so i cant help you out with that one.

Cos i was underage in vegas i didnt get to check out the clubs but i did go into some casinos but theres more to vegas. they have alot of cirdue solei on so i caught the chris angel one and another called zumanity.

The hotels are not bad at all, they are pretty nice apart from the one in vegas. The hotel in New york is now the beacon and is beautiful!! its so so nice and beds are so comfortable. Good choice at staying there after the tour. i walked to central park from their which is about 5 minutes.

And yeah i booked 2 nights at the beacon after the tour in NY but i was shocked at how expensive it was, i ended paying $1100.00 AUS for 2 nights! lol

I'll be getting into LA from Hawaii on the 28th nd I think there is a meet nd greet thing organised for that nite. It says something about it on the contiki website. Hopefully most of u guys will be there as I'm going solo nd would love 2 meet u all b4 the tour actually starts.

I just booked my alcatraz ticket too! I also booked the 9am tour on the Wednesday 2/9/09. Looks like there'll be a good group of us going... I'm glad we all seem to be getting on the same tour.

I have some info that might be helpful for anyone who hasnt decided what they're doing in terms of their spending money while we're on tour: I just bought a Travelex Visa Cash Passport card which allows you to pre-load your spending money onto it and use as an ATM/Visa card whilst overseas. You get your money locked into whatever the exchange rate is on the day you pay for your card - so you wont be affected if the exchange rate fluctuates while ur on the tour. One of the best things is that the card is pre-paid with your money so you dont have to worry about having a huge credit card bill to pay off when you get home and you can reload the card if you want to put more onto it. It's pin-protected and comes with a back-up card in case you lose it. If anyone's interested, go to www.cashpassport.com.au and have a look. Just make sure you get the CashPassport VISA card, not just the ATM card coz then you cant use it for point of sale transactions - it can only be used at ATMs.
