Hey guys I'm lexie and im from the gold coast. Im 23, single and will also be doing a european vista tour before this one.

Just a general question here.

I have read a few comments from people saying they wish they had booked single rooms on their previous trips. I have heard that it can issolate you from everyone but at the same time it would be good to have a place to chill out in after a long day.

Could anyone advise whether it would be a good idea to book a single?

any advise would be great. cheers ; ) lex

Hi Jade,

Im Alex, 23, Gold Coast and going on this trip alone : )

That sounds like a great idea! I was actually thinking of it myself but didnt know if anyone would be interested in doing a day trip to San Diego. Ive heard San Diego zoo is one of the best in the world, would u concider going there too?

I'm definately doing the Alcatraz tour.

Counting down the days : )

take care,

Alex

Hey Guys,
Im alicia 25 from Sydney. Im single and doing this trip alone. Im tossing up whether to get a single room aswell, i cant decide.
I did the European Vista tour last year, which was awesome! So hope you guys enjoy! I know how full on the tour was so it would be nice to have your own place to chill out, but then it is pretty isolating. I didnt do it alone so cant really say which is better?
Im gonna do Alcatraz tour, not sure which day though, but you have to book very early cause it books out really quickly. Not sure about San Diego yet.
So excited, only 164 days to go (not that im counting) ox

Its good to see I am not the only 1 counting down Wink

Alcatraz is a definite, not sure bout San Diego.

What is everyone doing once the tour is finished? We are staying in NYC for a couple days, thne join a different tour company heading to Niagra falls, Washington DC & Phillideplhia. Then we go to Chcago, Grand Canyon and then finish back in LA.

Hey Leesh,

how was the european vista? any advise on which optionals i should do on tour or which ones to avoid? this is my first contiki and im doing the best of usa after european vista.

I've heard that we can't book in for the Alcatraz tour or any activities in contiki until we begin out trip, It says it in the contiki brochures.

Im staying in NYC for 2 nights after the tour ends but am really shocked at the price of accommodation there for the contiki suggested hotel. If I want to book a single it'll cost over $360 per night!!! I might have to twin share for the 2 nights there so if anyone else is staying for 2 nights departing Sep 12th let me know : )

and yes, you're definately not the only one counting down the days Giulz.. I cant wait either!

Hi Alex,

I've read on the Best Western Stovall's Inn, Anaheim website (the hotel we stay at in LA) that day trips 2 San Diego/Southern California can be purchased in the hotel lobby. I'm not sure whether or not 2 wait until we get there 2 book a spot on a day trip or contact the hotel & book in advance coz apparently its quite busy in Summer when we go so they might be booked up before we get there? Yeah, I'd definately consider going to the zoo but Seaworld would b my first preference so if we get time for both it'd b gr8 but otherwise I'll just do Seaworld. I'm gonna do Disneyland on the first free day nd prob San Diego on the second.
Also, apparently Contiki has changed the NYC accomodation from the Marrakech 2 somewhere different...Does anyone know where its been changed to?
161 Days to go!!!! Big Grin

hey jadelouise, in regards to NYC accomodation, in contikipedia - where you stay North America it says that for best of usa the hotel is hotel beacon (which must have been recently updated becayse it previously said portland square)

Hey Alexi,
European Vista was awesome! I did all the extras except white water rafting and paris cabaret dinner. I did moulin rouge instead. If you can i recommend doing all of them, its where you have the most fun!
On the website it says to pre book alcatraz tour as it books really fast and recommends which one to do, ive had a look you cant book until 3 months before the date.
Im staying on in NYC for an extra 3 nights and contiki hotel twin share then hotel beacon.
Then im off to Quebec, montreal and toronto then hawaii.

Thanks Giulz... The Beacon sounds heaps better than wat I've heard about the Marrakech (where our travel agent first booked us) so I think the change will be a good thing Smiler If only August would hurry up....!
