I am 21 and looking at going on my first Contiki trip and well I am a bit scared because I will be going by myself. Just wondering what people have to say about these 2 tours and also if anyone else is going on these trips. I am looking into it still and need to book it.

I'm booked on both these tours. I'm 26 and going by myself, it's also my first Contiki, but I'm looking forward to the trip.

By the looks of the website, the Wild Western may be almost full - it's not listed on the WW page, but the LA to the Bay page says "Call for Availability". Should still be a couple of seats left.

Hi Christine, I just booked both of the trips a few minutes ago. I am pretty excited and well also a bit scared. I cant wait to go on the trip now. Im glad that there is someone else doing both of the trips at the same time.

So I guess that our trip dates are full. Im glad that I booked it when I booked it. Yea im kinda counting down But Im also counting down the days till Im finished College. Yea I was looking at going on the Trip to Alcatraz too, I think that it you be very intresting.

Im going home right after the trip. My flight is that night the trip ends at around 10:30pm. But I will on that LA Scene trip so thats when I will see LA.

I'm doing the California Highlights tour which I believe joins with the Wild Western tour you're both doing! I'm 27 and travelling solo for my first time, plus first Contiki holiday too! I'm really looking forward to it, especially as the date is getting nearer...!

Do you know how to arrange Alcatraz tours?

You get the Alcatraz tickets at Alcatraz Cruises but the ones for May 19 aren't available yet, so I haven't got one yet .

Hi Christine - nice to meet another fellow traveller too! At least by the time you get to Vegas, you'll be well into the swing of travelling. Will be nice to hear about the sights you'd have seen already. I'm looking forward to checking vegas out though will be a bit nervous being on my own!
Do you know which hotel we're staying at in San Fran? I hope it's a good location for everything, including getting to the start of the Alcatraz tours. Shame you can't book yet - what time would you be going for?
I really can't wait now - I'm like an excited child!!

I got my tickets the other day. According to the stuff that comes with them, the SF hotel is the Ramada Plaza Downtown. It apparently a borderline area (lots of homeless people and beggars) but it's close to transport (and there's a Starbucks in the lobby ).

I'm planning on booking the early tour (9:30am like Contiki suggests). It should give enough time to get to the warf, but leave time to see other things as well.

Thanks for the info on the SF hotel - I've checked it out on the internet and sounds ok - I'm also happy with the idea of a Starbucks in the lobby
I may tag along with you for Alcatraz then as hope to get a ticket when I can and although 9:30am is pretty early, at least it gives time to see some more of SF.

Are you staying in LA for long when the tour finishes?

I've got 3 days in LA after (almost, I fly out at 10:30pm on the 3rd day ). I was planning on seeing Disneyland, though I'm not a big theme park person, so I'll probably end up with heaps of time to do other things.

Be great if you can tag along for Alcatraz too Though still can't book tickets yet!! I'm not sure what other options I'll do, but then there's less choice for me as only join you guys in Vegas. The sunset cruise in SF sounds nice but I guess I'll make my mind up nearer the time.

I really can't wait - I fly into Vegas on the 14th May so just over a month to go for me!!
