I was thinking of doing this tour at the beginning of September, but haven't made up my mind yet...I'm actually quite nervous as it's my 1st time in Contiki, and I'm also travelling alone.

Don't be too nervous about travelling alone it's a great experience and worth it in the long run...last year was my first time travelling on my own...it was my first time on a plane and whilst it was scary it's also exciting
Once you get onto the tour and meet everyone you have a ball
I'm doing the wild western oct8...the western hightlights tour is on the same bus as the US do modulated tours. The wild western goes from LA and goes in a circle back to LA again...The western highlights tour is the first part of the WW..Then when the western highlights group jumps off in Vegas the Californian highlights tour jumps on
I can't wait to go back again only 3 months to go

Yeah, everyone who's been to contiki tours seem to have enjoyed it...I might give it a go Smiler
I know that these tours are for over 18yrs, but it seems that most of the participants are in their 20s...Is there anyone around my age (I'm 19) or anyone still in college?

definately give it a go
you'll love it
Average age is mid to late 20's but there often are some younger people...the only problem in US being 19 is that you are under the legal drinking age so it may be a little harder to go out

Thanks for reminding me about the age...I completely forgot about it!
The Western Highlight tour visits Las Vegas at the end, and I was personally looking forward to it...wonder if there'd be anyone who's on the same boat as me, or would I be the only under-21yrs and miss out all the fun?? Frowner
Anyway,do most of the US tours go out to drink every night?

we had a few people that were under 21...i'm not big into the drinking scene myself so there was a small group of us in vegas that didn't go out drinking with everyone cuz we had one person with us that was under 21...we went to New York New York and went on the roller coaster that goes through the hotels..it was fun...then we sat in a restuarant to be able to sit and drink and get to know each other...they didn't know that the person with us was under 21 and drinking...i think the girl that was under 21 with us was only unable to get into one place in downtown vegas...you can still walk around all the casinos you just can't sit at the tables or machines

There is always a group that will go out drinking every night...you can still go out with them and not drink and have heaps of fun
nobody can make you drink
for me i had alot of things during the day that i wanted to be alert and not hung over so i didn't go out all the time..just when i felt like it...you still connect with everyone because you spend so much time on the bus with them

Thanks for the information Tracie!
So you can actually get inside the casinos and see the games as long as you don't play? That's good news!

As I'm planning to do the tour solo, I hope I can find someone that would rather prefer to spend time in a nice restaurant than to get hung over and won't even remember what they've done the next day! I just thought that I'd kind of be left out cos I won't be able to go out like the others, or seen as unsociable.
The roller coaster that you mentioned sounds fun! Will definitely try it when I go there.

I was wondering what kind of nationalities participate in the US tour the most? Were there anyone from a non English speaking country in the tour that you've been to in the past? (I mean people who speak English as their second language?)

There's so much to see in vegas...and yes you can walk into the casinos
Don't worry you won't be left out...i'm sure there will be people on tour that you could do stuff with
There will be alot of aussies on the bus norm bout 1/2 than people from all over europe and asia...it's usually a real mix...although now that the US $ is so good for the aussies there may be more from AUS. I've had people on tour that speak italian, german, swedish and french so a real mix

Hope I won't miss out the important things mentioned in the tour...do you think people would get quite annoyed if I kept asking them to repeat what they are saying? (As you might 've guessed, I'm a non-native speaker)

ileana_prgirl...when are you planning to do the Western Highlight tour?
