I will be doing my first ever contiki tours next year with my sister in may and june. We will be doing the Eastern Discovery tour starting in New Orleans on the 17th May and then the North by North East Tour starting in New York on the 1st June.

I was wondering if there are any other people that will be doing these tours the same time as us?

We will arrive in New Orleans on my birthday (15th May) and I would love to have some contiki people to party with before we start the tour.

I will be doing the North by North East tour starting June 1 as well so we will be meeting up then. I will be travelling on my own so it will be good to have another Aussie on tour with!

I am also seriously considering the same combination (Eastern Discovery/North-by-North East) and perhaps throwing in the Big Apple explorer in between.

I'm from Brisbane. What sort of deals did you get with flights? Any particular airline?

I have to be mindful of cost at that time of year I guess

My flight is with Qantas from Adelaide to Sydney then to LA. Then on American Airlines to Dallas TX then onto New Orleans. We will fly out from Chicago, go to LA on American Airlines, then travel to Sydney from LA on Qantas and then back home to Adelaide. I think it was about $2600 without taxes but I can't really remember.

Get you travel agent to check all the different airlines. Just check about any stop overs. Our travel agent found a cheaper flight with Air New Zealand but it went through Japan and Singapore (Stop over) before it even reached the US.

The prices will also change dramatically after the 15th of May. It went up by about $500 after the 15th so thats why we are flying out on my birthday because it was cheaper and it also gave us a day to recover in new orleans.

Hi Claire, you will love New Orleans, it rocks! I went there in 2004, it was the best stop of our tour. Bourbon st is great, just be careful of the beads, its a tradition. If you have time, i highly recommend doing a walking tour of the french quarter and cemetaries, well worth it. See you when you get to NY.

I will be on you're eastern discovery tour and i'm also flying in on the 15th but I then do the Big Apple Explorer and start the Grand Northern on the 1st June but I'm traveling on my own so I would love to catch up
