I think it's better to stay either uptown or downtown - it's really expensive in the midtown area especially for that you get. I stayed in a nice hotel, but an awful room for like $350 per night when I first went!!

That's so true Jessabella - the subway is really quick. I didn't catch it too much last time, but I'll be relying on it and the bus system heaps this time.

I found the hop on hop off bus quite good Jussie - there is a tour guide on each bus, they are normally local New Yorkers who have volunteered their time. They point out all the places as well as give a bit of extra tid bits as well. The night tour in the same company is really good as well!

I got my extra holidays approved yesterday so will be changing to the Grand Southern tour today! Eastern discovery joins that tour so will still being seeing you guys on tour.

hELLo beautiful people .... I was just wondering if anyone else would like to a Broadway show in NY of course on the days after the GS/ED tour? I am sure alot of ppl are ending and spending some time in NY. Let me know because I am sure we can get cheaper tickets if we book a group =)

well I will have a look tonight, but the other thing is we may have to wait another month or two, because I think some shows are on their last cycle ie new awesome shows coming up when we are there!

Im doing LA, Las Vegas and San Fran for 2 weeks then flying over to new york and spending 2 weeks around the north-east (boston, etc) then flying down to new orleans to start the tour.
Im very excited!

I am in the US from the 20th.. start LA staying there for 4 days before tour..we can always meet up before tour ( quite a few of us are starting in LA and staying together..)

I just picked up my travel docs today for this tour and came straight online... v excited lol! Looking at the dates of all the posts, not sure if anyone else is gonna be online, but thought I'd come and say hi anyway.

This is my first contiki tour and I arrive in New Orleans on the 4th so if anyone else is gonna be there early would be fun to meet up... I'm also staying in NY for a couple of days after this tour finishes, doing the NY Explorer. Then down to Tampa for a week and finally off to Jamaica for 2 months.
