hey I may just be totally wrong but I'm on the Grand Explorer (the longer tour) which I am starting in Christchurch so if your tour begins in Christchurch on Jan 15th then we will be on the same tour until you leave! So fear not you are not on your own and tour def going ahead as I was moved to this one as mine was not full enough.
