44lbs? Is there any exception to this? I am not doing a budget tour but I will be gone for 11 days and want to have enough clothes and well.. I am a girl so I have extra stuff. I haven't packed my clothes or shoes yet and I am already at 15lbs with my luggage and all my toiletries. Some stuff I can take out once I get there that I can't take on the plane with me. How strict are they about a few pounds??

Before you get on the bus on the first day they will weigh your suitcase. No one on my tour was over the weight limit but I have heard of people having to remove things from their suitcase if it weighs too much.

we did a 21 day concept tour, they do weigh it and say if its too heavy to put what you can in your hand luggage

If you get anywhere near 44lbs you're taking WAYYYYYY too much, especially for 11 days!

You only really need 2 pairs of jeans, about 5 tops, a going out outfit (or two), a pair of walking shoes and a pair that can be dressed up, some pjs and you're done! You might want to take a dress or skirt and a jumper but still...nowhere near 44lbs!

You need to put everything you want to take on the floor, pick half and take just that. Trust me, you wont use half of what you take otherwise!

They are strict with the weight, you have to be under 44 pounds at the start of the tour. This has to do with the weight limit for the ferry.

You'll quickly find that the more your luggage weighs the more you will hate it. I did a 2 week tour and started out close to the weight limit and gave my luggage a dirty look every time I had to move it after the first day. Some hotels will not have elevators and if they do they will hold 2 people and their luggage, not terribly useful if your tour has more then 4 people on it.

Take a look around the board for tips on packing.

I agree with Pinai 44lbs and over for 11 days is crazy! i was a away for 30 days in total and my luggage when weighed at the airport was 13kgs (i was pretty happy though the girl who was suppose to come down and weigh everyone's suitcase at the beginning of the tour didnt show up so we went straight onto the bus!)

After going three times and taking the biggest suitcase I wised up last summer and took a small suitcase and a backpack for a 3 week trip. My wife did the same for a 6 week trip. Both of us loved it and we both thought we probably could have packed even less. I recommend buying some of your toiletries in Europe(toothpaste, soap, shampoo, etc.) to save luggage space. There are plenty of places to find those toiletries for cheap in Europe.

Bring a 21 or 22 inch suitcase and make yourself work with that size. Trust me, it can be done and you will thank yourself later.
