Has anyone else done these tours solo? What was your experience like?

Your best bet, apart from browsing through the Contikipedia, is to visit the travelogue secton. Several of the travelogues include info on what they packed and what temperatures were like.

I did my Contiki alone (European Adventure)! It was the BEST decision I ever made! and i spent it alone for 39 days! thats a long time! lol! I wasnt alone though, I made soo many new friends! I gained so much personally as well, greater independence and feeling like I can do anything on my own now! I never felt pressured to do anything I didn't want to (i.e you don't have to go out every night, there's always some people who choose not to party and its always still a blast!) Like I said it was the best decision I ever made! I was 24. There were other ppl who went along with friends and they ended up arguing a bit, 2 couples were married but the majority...say 95% were all single travellers! Pls feel free to msg me if you want any other info! But i would highly suggest you go on your own, you might feel scared at first, but you'll be glad you did!

I did a Contiki about 7 months ago solo in Europe.

I also recently did a cross country road trip with two friends here in the US.

I honestly have to say, having experienced the two back to back, I much prefer traveling on my own. It just offers more freedom, you can go off and do whatever you want, hang out with whoever you want to, without worrying about other people. It's no offense to my friends, cause they're great, but I just enjoy flying solo more these days.

I can identify with the 'scared' part... I'm from South Africa and 18 y/o. I'm going solo to Europe in December and I can't wait! I think I'm probably going to be the youngest though :-). I've read most of these threads and almost all the people going are over 20.

I wouldn't worry about your age, I recently did the 45 ultimate european solo and no one was treated different because of there age. I'm 24 was probably the 10th oldest out of 50 people.
