Just wondering if anyone knows about the optional activities. Under each tour there is a list - it this the list off all of the tour you will be offered or just a selection? Has anyone done the European Explorer tour and have any advice about optional activites? If there are more tour than on the tour page when do you find out what will be offered?

The list that is online (and the list you get with your booking pack) is the list of activities you get to choose from. Sometimes there are minor changes but not very often.

I can't give you any advice on what optionals to do (I did the Panorama tour), but i do have advice for budgeting......

Budget for all the activities! Even if you don't think you will do some of them, budget for them! Inevitably what happens is that when you are given your list on the first day to pick what you want to do, ones you thought you wouldn't pick you do cos everyone else is going. And then you may also find that some of the ones you thought you would do you don't pick, cos no one else is. Also even though you know your probably not going to do all of the optionals it means that your covered if you decide to, and if you don't.....you have some extra money to spend shopping or drinking!

Also be careful when you listen to the tour manager about what to pick. Some will tell you the truth about what's good and bad to do and others just try and get you to do everything. Some places they also get paid extra by the place for how many people they get to do an activity.

I did all of the optionals on my european highlights trip apart from wine tasting in the rhine valley as i figured thats what we had been doing the whole tour anyway and it was great to just look around by myself.
All the excursions were awesome and id definatly recommend them apart from paying 15 euros to get into the monaco casino which was very boring, i guess i was thinking vegas or something, ended up just waiting around until we could leave, kinda felt the tour manger had pushed it on us.
