Hi guys, just a question in regards to staying in the UK after contiki.

I am 22 yrs old and considering staying on with a working visa after my tour in dec 09 and picking up some work and doing a little more travel.. I recently graduated uni as a teacher, although was thinking more along the lines of bar work or something...i will be solo so extremly scared and dont know if i am making the right decision.

Has anyone done this, or know of anyone who did this? any advice?

Hi princess_km

A lot of Aussie's go & do working visa's in the UK every year. I'm sure you will do fine & some pubs (the more rural one's) will give usally give you a room.

I know it is a bit scary, but you will be fine & meet a lot of people.

hi there i stayed in the uk and did bar work it was a heap of fun but sometimes you need to get out of london to get a good job.
Just get the tnt magazine and look to the back where there are agencies that place aussies looking for bar work, it's all legit and most offer accomodation and sometimes food.
But be fussy there is heaps of jobs so get the one you want

Hey,

I stayed in london for a bit after my tour and contiki got me on to this company called Accommodation London. They basically have house around london and you rent out a room. There are all sorts of rooms available and the house are usually located right near a tube station so it's easy to get around. I was in Willesden Green.

It is about the same price as a bed in a 8 person room in a hostel in the centre of london (and was a lot cleaner and more private). Plus all the rooms have a table and chair, bed, wardrobe (so nice to finally unpack your clothes) and a TV. Shared kitchen and bathrooms.

The link is below. It's a nice place to stay whilst you get on your feet and work out what your going to do. Plus some people live there all year round when as they work, which is also an option.

hope that helps.
