hey peoples!

we're on july 22 to august 8th whirl ... anyways, have got the official itinerary and documentation just recently, and have noticed that many of the names of accomodations refer to as being "camping" ... yet in all documents, websites, etc, when we decided on the tour, it said "contiki village" and the as being the "concept" type of tour which is a mix of hostel vs hotel, but no camping (opposed to "camping" and "timeout") ... they dont seem to use these tour descriptions any longer though on the website (since we booked)

Example is in Venice, accom reciept shows staying at "Camping Fusina".

ANyone else a bit confused?

Ok I think you can relax, 'camping fusina' is actually the name of a hostel- i thought i'd heard that name before so I googled it and it's definitely not actual camping. Phew. Cos I don't do camping.

brad, i'm pretty sure the contiki villages are located in campsites, so "camping fusina" is probably the name of the campsite. but where we actually stay, i think, is little cabins with (i hope) some electricity and an actual floor and roof.

i just got my package the other day also and i'm totally psyched.

I have been wondering about the accomodations for this tour as well. I'm going on the trip running August 11th - 30th and I'm wondering if I have to bring a sleeping bag and pillow with me. I haven't received my itinerary stuff yet so I'm kinda unclear... help anyone?

the doco ive got says to bring a sleeping bag, and a towell ... so ive got an ultra light / compact version of both ... ive got one of those silly neck pillow things, but as for sleeping ... probably just buy a pillow from a department store when i get to london for the contiki bit, and throw it away at end of trip (london itself, and the spain and greece trips we're doing after it) will have pillows provided.

failing that a heap of clothes under the head does a pretty good job, I suspect our condition half the time wont matter if it was rocks or a pillow Smiler

if you're coming from the usa or canada you exchange the ticket for a sleeping bag in the contiki basement. i'm assuming it's just already included in the price. if you come from any other part of the world it's not included already so you have to bring/buy one yourself.

i'm pretty sure there are already pillows but i am bringing a pillow case because i'm easily skeeved out when it comes to bedding. also i have one of those neck pillows for the plane, so if worst comes to worst i'll just whip that out.

hope this helped!
