Hi there
I've just booked in to do the same tour departing Vancouver 24th August 2007. Just jumped on to find some people who were also doing the tour from Oz. Not a scotch drinker :-( but that can be substituted for many other alcoholic beverages, many many other beverages!

Hi again
Yeah I'm in Vancouver the night before staying in the Contiki hotel there (Sandman Inn I think). Staying on a couple of nights in NY also (10th and 11th), you? Fingers crossed it's still going ahead!! Can't wait to see the Rockies and, hopefully, a bear!!

Yeah I get into Van from Vegas the night before, but im at a different hotel than the Contiki one. Im also in NY for the 10th, and then I have the Big Apple Explorer 3 day contiki tour. Have you been to the US before?

Nah I've never been to the States or Canada before? Have you? Do you have any idea of what the weather is like at the time of the year? So Are you doing a tour of Vegas first (lucky you if you are!!). I'm just doing the 48hour hop on hop off bus tours of New York over the 10th - 12th then fly back home.

Not sure about the weather, I know the Rockies can get cold though...Vegas will be about 40C so im not looking forward to that very much, least it will be better than winter here! I have a week in vegas first, not doing a tour or anything though. Never been to America or Canada before, looking forward to it, esp Vegas and New York

Wow you're going to have a huge shock going from 40C to an average of about 16C (I looked it up), but why not like you said anything has got to be better than a Melbourne winter huh! I'm sure it'll be fun regardless of the weather, just find the nearest pub and she'll be right!

Hi there, I live in Vancouver and you have nothing to worry about in terms of weather. The days will be good and warm - beach weather, but as always with Canada, bring light coat or sweater for the evening. You will LOVE Vancouver in August. It is gorgeous!!

Oh cheers so much for that, that makes packing a whole lot easier! Can you recommend any places to see or things to do in Vancouver?

It would be my pleasure!! I would suggest the following attractions: Stanley Park - my suggestion would be to rent a bicycle (vendors all over the place) and bike around the sea wall and within Stanley Park. There are a host of small secluded beaches all around the sea wall and there are also some larger ones. Grouse Mountain - You can catch the mountain tram up the mountain and take in the view of Vancouver and all the inlets and the Coastal Mountain range etc., over a pint of beer or dinner in their great restaurant. There are a number of things that you can choose to do at the top that will cost additional $ (ie. Paragliding) Capilano Suspension Bridge - truly a unique experience. Bridges suspended way above ground across a canyon and within the natural beauty of the forest. There are a ton of other things to do. You can simply ask the front desk at your hotel and they will direct you. The common theme in Vancouver is the outdoors. Whether you are heading up the mountain, out on the ocean on a boat or kayak, or cycling or walking around parks or the sea wall, you want to be outdoors as much as possible.

Hey Everyone,
First off, before I say anything, just want to make it clear, I'm not going on your trip.
However, I live in New York, so feel free to ask me questions ( I am not looking to meet women so dont worry )
