I was just wondering where you are both staying the night before contiki starts, as I am currently in the United States and am looking into booking somewhere relatively cheap, and close to Hotel Beacon, our meeting place the night before our tour starts. I have found a place 1 block away, which looks ok, but is pretty expensive for just the one night. So yeah, if you have any suggestions, that would be awesome! I am actually staying at Hotel Beacon for the 2 nights I'm there.
I stayed there last year when my tour ended and I thought it was one of the better hotels i stayed at in NY for that price. I know it looks quite expensive, but so is almost every hotel in the big apple, speciallly if you're solo...

A couple of people stayed at hostels after the tour, which was a lot cheaper but can't remember the names of those places. I also stayed at a YMCA, somewhere in 2004, but that wasn't at all close to the Beacon. So far I don't have any info on what time our tour starts but as it is Contiki i'm counting on 'very early' So its probably best if you stay in or close to Hotel Beacon.
Sorry can't help you on this one...

hi guys George from Australia on the 17th aug GC departing from new York. Im really excitied, ive been in CANADA/USA since early july and its been awsome. Im currently in Calgary just resting up before hitting new york on the 11th, Unfortunatley the beacon was booked out so im staying at the HI NEW YORK. I have no idea of the times of the pre-departure meeting or when were leaving so if anyone knows be great if you could let me know.
