Hi my name is Tracie and i am 24 from Penrith NSW
I did the grand canadian last year.
This year i will be doing the grand northern starting 12th Sep in NY
You will probably find that you may not got many people saying they are doing this tour but don't worry cuz this tour is part of a modulated tour system...it joins in with the grandnorthern.
We had 3 of us that were doing the grand canadian last year..than about 1/3 of the people on the bus were doing the north by north east and the rest doing the grand northern...they join everyone together on the same bus...so when you get off at toronto to fly over to the other side of canada the north by north east continue onto chicago and the grand northern even further to LA...does that make sense?

So long story short we will be on the bus together on the 12th Sep. You will love the grand canadian...i did..it was awesome...Doing the grand northern means that i redo some of the places that i vistited before but they are worth seeing again.

thank you for your reply it does make sense what you said. This will be my 2nd contiki trip i did european panorama in 2005 and loved it.

Yeah i am also travelling on my own...too difficult to find someone to go with and now i know from last years experience that it's ok doing it on my own
Are you in NY long before the tour? I'm only there the night before but i was unable to get a room at the marrakech so i'm staying about 7 blocks down at the Days Hotel Broadway

So what are you looking forward to most on this tour?
This year i plan to see more of Quebec...as the GC was my 3rd tour i had picked up the contiki cold and slept most of the time in quebec to get better plus it was raining there

Are you planning on going down to niagara falls before you leave Toronto...i would highly recommmend to...i did this on my free day in Toronto....while you don't get to spend the last day with the people from the GN you actually get to see niagara which i wouldn't have if i didn't book the tour...i loved it

The hotel in Toronto will organise a daytrip tour for you it cost me about $116...this included the trip down there which isn't too far...Stops at a few main places in niagara... lunch on the 15th floor of the Sheraton Hotel which was awesome and you can get some great photos from up there...the ride on the maid of the mist...time to shop...then on the way back to toronto it stops in at a winery for tastings...it's one of the few places you can buy ice wine from which is a really nice expensive desert wine
All in al it was a great day and worth missing toronto for...
It's worked out well for me cuz now i'm going back i can see toronto

I have been looking forward to the whole trip i have seen footage of canada and just looks beautiful. I really dont know what to expect or what i want to see. Niagara falls sounds brilliant i will consider that.

After the tour i am spending another week in Vancouver so i have a bit of extra time to see different places then i'm heading onto Hawaii for a week.

I am in Scotland and Ireland before i go to Canada. I leave on the 25th July to start my travelling.

I fly into JFK at around 2.30pm so not sure what time i will get to hotel
i will definately be at the pre tour meeting though
i would say make sure you have the money to do all the optionals cuz they are all great
