My name is Katie, I'll be doing the Canada and the Rockies on 18 July 2009 and I'll be alone too.
I put in as happy to share so hopefully there will be another lone traveller girl that can share a room and make friends and have a ****load of fun on the tour!
I cant wait Im excited, its a bit scary my first lone holiday however I know Contiki is so fun so I'll make friends.
Im going over to Vancouver on the 6th of July to visit some friends so I'll be there beforehand. Im even thinking it would be really fun to do a Cruise from Vancouver to Alaska and you can get them cheap on this website I found.
Hey there Im doing the canada and rockies tour on the 18th July on my own too. Im prob going to go there 1 or 2 days before. Are any of you booking the pre tour accomodation? Im thinking about it but also found an awesome backpackers right near the meeting hotel....

My name is Jennifer. I am a Canadian doing the Canada and The Rockies Tour on July 18th...very excited to be heading out to Vancouver. It is a beautiful city!!! I signed up for the tour by myself, so I'm looking forward to meeting people from across the globe!! Cheers,
This is so great! So far just on this forum there is 4 gals going on the tour by ourselves! How fantastic is that!!!
I think we're all going to have the best time Im so excited! Im counting down the days till I get to Canada.
I'll be staying with a friend in Vancouver prior to joining the trip and doing a bit of travelling around with her maybe to vancouver island and seattle and a few places but Im joining the tour by myself after that so Im looking forward to making some great friends!!!
I just signed up for this tour! I'm from the Netherlands, 25 years and travelling alone as well. Good to see that I won't be the only one travelling alone, haha! I still have to book a flight, but I think I'm gonna come to Vancouver a few days before the tour starts as well. So would be awesome to meet up already then!
I just finalised things, I'll arrive in Vancouver one day before the tour starts (the 17th), in the afternoon. I'm gonna stay in the hotel where the tour starts, Sandman Hotel or so. Maybe we could meet up on the 17th in the evening for a drink?
Oh how exciting so many of us travelling alone. I was thinking of going to seattle and the vancouver a few days before the tour too. Flying in from OZ a few weeks before, roland drinks sounds good. I was staying at the Sandman but think I'll change to the samsun backpackers it looks pretty cool and right by the hotel and cheaper. See you all soon!

Hi this is going to be so fun! I think there is a meeting the night before we leave at 7pm we should all go to that and then meet up for a drink after that meeting there at the hotel. Im keen to do that if anyone else is. I really cant wait!!! Im counting down the sleeps till I get to Canada, this will be the trip of a lifetime!
Hey sounds like its going to be awesome, I cant wait! Leave for the east side of Canada in 2 weeks! Are most people staying at the sandman? How did you find out there is a meeting the night before Katielee?
Not long to go!

hey! ah, sounds good! i arrive in vancouver at 4.30 pm so when my flight's not delayed I should be at the hotel in time for the meeting at 7 pm. and if not, then i can just join you for the drinks later will be awesome, I can't wait!
Hi Susie I read in my paperwork from Contiki I got, I found it on the travellers guide 09-10 on the 'vancouver information' page it says tours begin at Sandman Hotel tour check in time 10:30am, tour departure 11am, and it says pre-departure meeting 7:00pm the night before to meet your tour manager and fellow travellers to receive important information about your tour! It says there will be a Contiki notice sheet in the hotel lobby for the meeting place.
Are any of you getting the ekit phone card or sim card? I was thinking Id get the sim card because global roaming call charges on a mobile are so expensive and I wanted to be able to call home whenever I had the chance and due to time zones might not always be easy to get to a phone booth or something so I was thinking of getting one, what is everyone else doing?
Thanks Katielee, Yeah I havent got my pack yet they've been a bit slack. But I'll be there! Staying at a backpackers around the corner, I actually got one of those ekit sim cards through my hostel booking. I bought it online and got it a few days later from Melbourne. Def worth getting. There are different types though and there is one for USA and Canada that has cheaper rates than the global one, check out there website. http://www.hi.ekit.com/ekit/home/
So excited!
