Just wondering if anyone else is booked on the Winter Wanderer tour on the 7th October?? I am travelling with my best bud and we are starting to get really excited already.........!!! Looking forward to meeting nyone else on this tour...

We were thinking the same too coz we booked back in last nov! it feels like it is taking forever for the trip to come around!

This is my first trip to Europe and i have friends who keep telling me how fantastic the contiki tours are, making me even more excited!

are you doing any other travelling or just the tour?

we have a couple of days in london before and after the trip and thats about it!

I leave Sydney on the 1st October and arrive in London some time on the 2nd.  There's a guy called Chewie, who's looking for people to go and see a West End show on the night of the 2nd, so I might meet up with him and do that (if I'm not too jet lagged).

From the 3rd, I'm doing a 4-day Check Out London tour, then it's straight into the Winter Wanderer.

After that, I'm going to visit a friend in Norwich for a few days.  Then one last night in London before I fly home on the 4th November.

Have you decided what you want to see/do on the 2 days before the tour? 

Just over 11 weeks to go!  But who's counting?

Hey Bridge and Ange,

My 2 sisters and I will also be on the Oct. 7 tour and we booked last January so the excitement has been building forever!

We leave Canada on Oct. 3 and will be in London on Oct. 4 and we have nothing planned inbetween this time and when our tour begins.   Have you planned anything yet?  Since we are leaving to go back to Canada on Oct. 30 from Amsterdam we really want to check out London before our tour begins.  

Only 9 weeks to go now!

I get into London on the morning of the 2nd.

I'm doing the Check Out London tour from the 3rd to the 6th, but from what I understand, it's completely self-directed, so if you and your sisters would like to meet up and do all the touristy things, that'd be great!

my name is beth and like ange i'm also doing my first europe trip solo! i'm actually booking tomorrow, so unlike you guys i havent had all this time to get excited but this time tomorrow i'll be flying high!

I have no idea what i want to see in london yet Ange! the tour your doing is a good idea! will have to look into them, but we dont arrive until the 4th?? (same day as you Andrea) will check it out this week! I never thought of going to see a West End show either! have a feeling i am going to want to do so much more in London than i will have time for!!

So have you booked now Beth? at least you wont have a long countdown! will be here in no time....

where is everyone planning on staying in London? we still havent booked our accom there.

Beth, I'm just as relieved to hear I'm not the only one travelling on my own. It seems so daunting, but knowing I'm not going to be the only nigel is very comforting! And if you're doing the 'share stranger' thing, I could very well be the stranger your sharing with!

When are you planning on flying into London? And which part of Australia are you from?



Bridge - I'm staying at the Imperial before and after my tour.  It just seemed easier because it's one of Contiki's hotels, and the Check Out London tour also includes accommodation there.  The Check Out London tours have 2 and 4 day options (I think!) so maybe it'd be worthwhile doing that.

I actually changed my holiday bookings last week (I'm staying in England another 5 days). . . looks like you might be in the same boat!

ange - i will admit i was pretty worried about going by myself but heaps of people keep saying "you'll meet heaps of people bla bla bla!" but i was still nervous but its fantastic to know we're both in the same boat! i'm from sydney (sutherland shire). i'm pretty sure i fly in on the 6th of oct. but i'm just thinking i would like a bit more time before the tour. i'll have about 3 days at the end so thats when i think i'll explore london a bit... hmmmmm on reflection maybe i should have more time at the start! what to do!!!!!!! aaaaaaaah! what part of sunny oz are you from?

Yeah, I decided to do the London bit first.  I figured I'd be buggered after the main tour, and probably wouldn't be up for wandering the streets of London after it. 

I also didn't like the idea of being jet lagged at the beginning of such a big trip, so by having a few days to discover London at the beginning of the tour, I can sleep in, get over the jet lag and do things at my own pace.

I'm originally a Camden girl, but I've lived in Carlton, and am currently living it up in Parramatta.

I so can't wait for this trip.  I've got a countdown going on on my calendar at work.  Everyone thinks I'm insane . . . I think they're just jealous!

Ange - We can totally meet up and do the tourist thing. It's will be nice to meet some people before the whole tour begins.

I am so excited for our trip and sooo many people are giving me advice on what things to see, what to bring, things to be aware of, etc.! Right now I just want to get in a plane and go.

Has anyone ever been to Europe before? It's my first time overseas as well.

I am doing the tour leaving Oct 7th 2006. I can not wait as it is my first trip to Europe and i am travelling solo so i was a bit worried about that but glad to see i am not the only one travelling solo on the trip. I am an Aussie who has been living in Canada for almost 2 years so i am hoping i am prepared for the European winter. Is anyone planning on staying in the UK to work after the tour? It would be great to meet up with people doing the tour before it starts...I havent booked my flight yet though...

I ll be booking my flight this weekend more than likely...I am thinking i may get there a bit earlier so i can check out Scotland and Ireland too. Is anyone up for checking out those places before our tour starts? I may fly in Sept 25th approx....give or take a few days...
