Hi- I'm thinking of signing up for this tour starting in Moscow around Aug 20th. I'm 32 and going alone from NYC... is anyone else is planning on going at that time?
I dont think I have enough days to do Riga- I'm probably going to start in Moscow. I think with work, I need to sign up for the Aug 20th date, which then overlaps with Labor Day. Any chance you'd do that next week? Also, do you know if Newark is cheaper or better flight availability compared to JFK or JGA?
This would end up being most of my vacation time for the year. Currently I'm planning on starting in Paris for a few days then going over to Riga. I will look at the dates tonight and check if the 20th would work better. Flights might also cost more being closer to Labor day. I think the flights are probably cheaper from JFK, but Newark is much closer for me and overall a lot easier.

I've traveled a lot in the past and dont really find too much price difference... since it's a new tour, and it's not guaranteed, I was thinking strength in numbers if we can book on the same week! But of course if it doesnt work for you, then we'll both have to chance it! Any of the area airports work for me- it's all the same from the city, but I actually find EWR to be the best one.... Keep me posted on your plans, and all the air research!
I will check my work schedule and see if I can do the August 14th start in Moscow- it seems like there's at least 2 of you based on these postings, so perhaps it will become guaranteed :-)
Right now I'm still planning on starting in Riga on the 11th. I'm thinking that seeing another country should be a lot of fun, plus I've heard good things about Velikiye-Luki. Price wise everything I've looked up has turned out to be cheaper starting from Newark then any other place around here. I'll probably end up booking the trip next week, I'll let you know when that happens.

Sorry for the delay, I booked on Friday. My travel agent is supposed to get back to me and let me know how many people are booked on this trip early next week some time.

Hey Mike S and acdngirleh, I'm going on those dates too. Only I'm joining up in Moscow on the 14th. You both from Canada? And from where. I'm from Kitchener/Waterloo area.
Since there seems to be a few of us that have signed up for this trip, I have created a Facebook group if you would like to join so we can "meet" eachother ahead of time.
Hello all, I'm still waiting to hear back from the agent on the odds of the trip being confirmed. What are you guys doing for flights? Oh, and Mel I'm from the US not Canada, sorry.
Mike

I was told to hold off booking flights until 45 days before which is the deadline for them letting you know whether the trip is going ahead or not.
I will be flying from the UK so my flight situation is a little different I suppose because it is probably easer for me to find flights.
Some useful websites for flights is flightmapping.com which shows which airlines fly where, as well as skyscanner.net which has loads of cheap flights (at least from the UK it does).
Fingers crossed everything goes well and the trip goes ahead as planned!
