I'm a Canadian currently residing in London, UK and going on the 21 day Russia and Scandi Aug 26th...anyone else going?

My name's Tamara and i'm also booked on this tour. I'm from Brisbane in Queensland, Australia and will be travelling to the UK on May 29th. I'm doing two other tours before this one. I'm going to be travelling alone...how bout you?? It's my first time overseas so i'm really looking forward to it and i've always wanted to go to Russia. How long have you been living in London for?

hey sandra, i'm serious thinking of doing the 21 day russia, but not sure as yet... Have you ever done a long tour as this one  before and are they usually full... I did the 16 day european encounter tour last year and it was a blast. It's either russia or asia for me this year.... So are you doing this tour solo...

up when you arrive!  Anyway, yes i am travelling alone but never a
done a Contiki tour though this is my 4th time to Europe, been
backpackin the first few times.  I hear that Russia is not a place
for females to runabout on thier own, thus my choice to go w/
Contiki.  But it wil be a great time!

Hi Sandra,

It would be great to meet up before the tour.

Are you getting worried that our tour will be cancelled? I am because it is a non-guaranteed departure date and it is the last one in 2006. All the other tours seem to be filling up and instead of guaranteeing the August tours they just keep adding more in the May/June months.

Have you organised your Russian Visa yet? I have to do it in the next month so I can get my passport back before I leave. If the tour is not guaranteed by the time I apply and it is then cancelled I have to re-apply which is a pain in the ass but I can?t do anything about it!

Do you think it will be cold in Scandi/Russia when we go?

Anyway hope life is treating you well in London. You must be relieved that it?s almost Summer.

Hiya there!

yes, i am getting worried that it may cancelled!  I'm opening the timeframe up for one of the guarenteed departures in Aug.  The VISA I believe is good for 3 months...I'm not sure, best to contact your embassy/consulate.  as for cancellation, maybe ring contiki to see whether if it stands a chance of cancelling.  Not everyone knows about this msg board...my sis in booked for a Euro-tour and she had no idea that this existed! 

the weather is beautiful in Russia and Scadi during that time. It's actually the best time of the year to go! otherwise it's just cold. 

speaking of warming up, London is great right now!  starting to get nice!  let me know when you get here!

How great is it that our tour is Guaranteed? I'm very happy about that. I have now booked all my flights and I'm trying to find accomodation in Copenhagen. Are you staying there the night before or just arriving on the day? I don't know whether to stay at the hotel it leaves from or something more central. Let me know what you're doing.

Hey everyone my name is daniel. im doing the scandi russia tour leaving on the 8th of august and from what i have been told we join up together for the russia part of the tour so i thoguht i might jump on and say hi. i cant wait for this trip it will be my second contiki tour, and if it anything like the last one we are going to have a ball.
if any of you would like to say hi to a few of the other ppl from my tour that are doing the russia part we have a posting in the scandi russia part. cant wait to party with all of you and get into some vodka in russia

Hey guys, I just signed up for this tour today, and am so excited.  I'm from Toronto, Canada and this will be my first time in this area of Europe.  This is my second trip with Contiki and if the first was any indication, we should have a very exhausting but good time.  I'm travelling solo and will be spending 2 weeks before this trip in Ireland.  I'd love to meet up with you guys when I get into the city.
So looking forward to this much craved vacation!

My name's Jen and I'm from Brisbane, Australia. I made a last minute descision to join the 21 day Russia & Scandi tour departing on August 26th! It's very exciting! My last trip to Europe was in 2004, when I did a contiki with a couple of friends, but this time I'm venturing out by myself. Also planning on spending a week in London after contiki, seeing all the things I missed out on seeing last time I was there.

Would be great to hear from anyone on the same trip!

Was planning to go over to Europe with a couple of friends but they sort of wanted to do their own thing first so I?m going to meet up with them after going on Contiki. Pretty scared cos I?m going by myself and never really traveled much before but it sounds like there's a few lone travelers so that?s cool. Good to hear a few other Aussies are going. Getting nervous but can?t wait. Hope to hear from anyone soon.

It is so exciting isn't it! I'm counting down the days. When are you going over to Europe? I leave here on Friday 25th and arrive in Copenhagen on the 26th, a few hours before our tour starts.

I'm a little apprehensive about going by myself as well, but on my last Contiki there were lots of people who were going it alone and they all had a great time, so that makes it a little less scary.

Would love to hear back from you, and from anyone else going on Russia/Scandi 26 Aug tour!

Hi Everybody



I have been working hard at my job and have decided that I need a break, so it's back on the Contiki trail for me! I did Great Britain/Ireland this time last year and now I'm hoping to book for this Scandinavia/Russia tour this weekend if it isn't booked out! Hopefully the visa situation can be sorted in eight weeks!



Not sure where else I'm going before or after the trip yet, but there seems to be some choice music festivals around Europe at this time... Might end up checking out Holland's Lowlands Festival so that I can see Hard Fi, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Massive Attack! Just because I'm on holidays doesn't mean I can live without good music!



Anyway, for those of you that haven't been on a Contiki before my trip last year was fantastic fun. I had a great group of people, so hopefully if I get everything sorted and join you on this tour I'll find it to be similarly awesome!

Scottie - welcome to the tour! Should be great fun - 2 months to go!! Where in the world are you from??

I've got a week after the tour finishes to do something before I have to come back home and get back to work... I want to spend a couple of days in London, but am thinking that I might go to Prague or Athens, or both! Anyone been to either city? I'm trying to work out how long I will need in each city in order to see all the good stuff...

I went on the European Escapade tour in May 2004, and had the most awesome time, so I'm hoping that this tour will be just as fabulous.
