Hey guys, I have booked in for the May 2008 Tour. I was wondering if any people who have already taken this tour had some photo galleries they could send me a link to?

I did this tour in August - it was really great! Just remember to take lots of warm stuff if you do it later in the year. All my photos are HERE if you want to take a look.
Hey Dave, thanks for the photos. It certainly looks like a nice chilled out trip, just what I need. What were the staff/guides like? How was the accomodation? Cheers pal.

Hey Explorer, Dave's accomodations were different from what your accomadations will be. This tour has been changed from a cabin tour to a hotel tour. I am going on a tour starting May 29th in Moscow. Is that the one you are doing?

Hey, I dont think so, my tour starts in Riga,Latvia on the 12/05/08. Still, I like the idea of the tour changing from a Cabin tour to a Hotel tour, but anything is better than a hostel!

Can anyone who's been there comment on the process of getting a visa for Russia? It sounds kind of complicated! And I was surprised to find out that Contiki doesn't take care of that....
I did the Russia/Scandinavia trip last June... and don't worry, the visa process isn't as complicated as it seems!
To go to Russia you need an invitation, and Contiki will sent you one (and they should also send you the application form). Then you fill out your application form, include a passport photo, your passport, a photocopy of the information pages in your passport, your invitation (it's two documents, one is the standard form of confirmation and the other is the voucher for foreign tourists), the visa fee, and a return envelope (or couriour or whatever) and send it all to the Russian Embasy nearest you (or walk there if you're lucky).
But a Russian visa is only good for 90 days after it's been issued, so you can't apply for it too early. Also all this information is for Canadian Visa's, so it could be different depending on where you're from. I actually still have the -mail from my travel agent that has all this info, so if you're really worried I can forward it all to you (lady_bly@hotmail.com)
This is my second of two back-to-back trips and consequently will be in Riga a few days early. Is anyone else going to Riga early and maybe wanting to hook up beforehand?
hey there, i am also doing this tour, Riga to Stockholm, and i am flying from London to Riga on the 12th, out of Stansted at 6:40 or so in the morning. what about you??
Hey Nick, is that the Ryanair flight? If so, yes I am on that also, arriving in Riga at around 10am. I wouldnt be surprised if quite a few of us are on that flight, as the next one doesnt land until around 6:30pm, which is a bit late. Should be nice to spend the day in Riga, I just hope the weather is nice. I have been speaking to a few people from each of the countries we are visiting and it sounds like a wonderful time of year. Denmark is meant to be in the mid 20's and sunny in early May, so hopefully this prediction from a local bares out.
I for one am very exicited, I have waited six months for this trip and its only six weeks away!

Hey Nick, excellent. Well I am in London for three weeks before this trip, just visiting some friends and doing a tour of the North. Whereabouts are you from?

i am from Canada. i too will be trying to spend time with a friend or two in London before the trip, but i only have a couple days for that. i will have my brightly coloured Contiki luggage tag on my black backpack, so if you see me in the airport waiting area, be sure to say hey LOL. not sure if i will be staying with a friend on London, or at a hotel. how about you?
