Hey I'm Jennifer,

Is there anyone who is taking the London to Rome tour this June 15 - July 02?

I'm a 22 year old female going solo from the States and this is my first Contiki Tour! I'm really excited and am looking to get to know some of the travel mates before the trip. Let me know if you're going or if you've any advice.
Cool

Hi!

Are you leaving the states on the 15th and London on the 17th? If you are, some of us on the tour are here ... http://connect.contiki.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/484105522/m/378103153

sweet. if that's the case then we're on the same tour!

i must confess, i've never even been to europe before so I too am very excited. i wanted to go earlier before it starts, like you're doing, but didn't know anyone and chickened out. so, i respect your boldness and am honestly a bit jealous. Smiler

as for you hearing contiki is the best, i've heard the same. some of my south african friends have been on these tours before, and their parents went in their 20's, and all loved it. do you have any particular thing you’re interested in doing or seeing while we're there?

Hey
Yeh i was a bit iffy about just randomly showing up in london a week early with no plans, but hey, i figured you only live once so what the hell.

there's not really much i know about the areas we're visiting so i don't really know what there is to do, the tour should take care of all the site seeing, so like every 24yr old aussie in the world i think i'll just chill out and have fun. Cool.

What about yourself?

I think we are the same tour... The American dates are from when you leave the US. What I meant was do you leave London on June 17th? I'm on London to Athens which arrives in Rome on July 2nd. There are 3 others on the same tour on the forum link I posted...

eh, i'm not too excited about london but later in the trip i most definitely want to hit up some wine/beer “tasting”, versailles, the beach, and of course the spanish nightclubs.

other than that i'll go with the flow and be up for just about anything.

so i have to ask... the trip's in june, which if i'm not mistaken is winter in australia, so is this your winter break from something?

hey sajeet, unless the "london to rome" and "london to athens" tours are combined until we reach rome then i think we're on different tours? If not, the more the merrier! (i'll starting chatting with you all in the other forum too. perhaps someone there will know what's up with the tours.)

Yeh winters on the way.
Nah we don't have seasonal breaks here, i'm just on holidays from work and i figured that its the best time of year to visit Europe.

Smiler beer, beaches and nightclubs.... are you sure your not Australian?

Yeh spain and paris should be pretty good, lookin forward to venice as well, i have a few friends that have been there and they said its pretty good.

this is startin to sound like an interview, are you sure you don't work for some cellphone survey company? Smiler

A few of my friends did Europe (and their hell party animals). They did amsterdam, prague and the like and they said Venice was one of the best places they saw. Not realy a party capital, just chilled out and interesting.

Yeh i just got back from India, Oman and the UAE with work, nice places but i wouldn't holiday there.

I'm a Marine Engineer in the Australian Navy.

What do you do?
Whats it like in the states? i have a friend from florida, who tells me the west coast is a lot better than the east. Is he tellin the truth or havin me on?

you know, naturally i do what i can to make people feel like they're being interviewed. Wink

so you're a naval man, that's cool. though, i'm not really sure what a marine engineer does...
how did you become a marine engineer? Do you just work for the navy or are you actually serving in the military? (here you have to serve 6 years)

as for me, i'm graduating from university with a degree in business administration. i finished my last final this week monday and ironically am in florida as we speak. i'm here on a quick vacation before my graduation this weekend.

the contiki tour is my graduation gift to myself/a summer holiday for me before i throw myself into the real world with a job. so... as of now i don't do much which is a first for me.

the states are, well, home to me so not too exciting. there are almost different US cultures within the country it self. which is what your friend was referring to when speaking of the west cost being "better" than the east. the east and west costs are very, very different as are the northeastern and midwestern portions of the country. when i say different i mean everything from accents, to what people wear, education levels, types of jobs, how the people behave, etc. as to what part of the sates is better, it just depends on your preferences. i'm from the east cost and prefer it over the west cost though my brother lives in seattle on the west cost... so again, personal tastes.
