I'm booked on to the Grand Southern tour, which is the same tour as you but we carry on to NY.

I'm 26 from Sydney. I'll be travelling on my own also. I have done another contiki before this - Ultimate European - last year, which was amazing.

Can't wait for the USA adventures to start....

Thanks for the reply. I am also 26 and from Sydney. I have done a couple of Contiki tours and loved them. I'm doing the Wild Western beforehand as well, then onto Orlando after the Southern Adventure followed by about a week in New York.

I'll also be on this tour. I am 25 and from Adelaide. I will only be joining the tour from Las Vegas though. I've never been on a Contiki Tour before so am a bit nervous, but very excited.

I'm doing the tour from LA to New Orleans. I arrive in LA on 20 April, have a bout a week on my own then I'm doing the Wild Western followed straight by our tour.

Are you staying any extra nights in New Orleans or travelling after? I have 2 days post tour in New Orleans, then onto Orlando for a couple of days finishing with a week in N.Y. All up about 7 weeks or so.

After New Orleans I am thinking about maybe staying another night there to unwind and then I'm also going to NY. I fly back to Australia on 2 June. What about you?

5 weeks will be amazing too! I'm quitting my job before I go though (probably not the best idea given the economy, but I hate it and you only live once ).

I'm just staying at the Best Western where the tour leaves from in Anaheim for the whole week..I figure I'll just do day trips from there for the things I want to see in LA. I was originally supposed to have the week in LA inbetween tours but the first Wild Western got cancelled which is a bummer as it would have been good to have a rest between tours and meet ppl etc.

After all that I fly home on June 7. Will be in NY from June 1-7.

Have you been to the U.S before? I've only been to N.Y and Boston before. Really can't wait to get back to New York!

That's excellent about doing something about a job that you don't like. I've been told to take 5 weeks off work, which is why I'm going to the US. I have never been before. You mentioned that you've visited before. When was that?

I might look into staying at the Best Western while I'm in LA on my own. I have looked at a few websites and everything is so expensive!

Have you got your information pack yet? I finished paying for the tour today so hopefully I'll get the pack soon. I am keen to read all about it.

Any ideas of the day trips you'll do in LA? I am thinking of Disneyland, Universal Studios, and Grand Tour of LA.

I was there back in 06. I did the Grand Canadian Contiki tour so started in New York then to Boston and onto Canada.

Yes I agree, hotels over there are expensive! Did you decide on what to do after the tour ends in New Orleans?

No haven't got my information pack yet. With the other Contiki tours I've been on I usually have only received it a couple of weeks before I'm due to fly out...so I don't think it will be for a while.

How come you have to take 5 weeks annual leave...have you accrued too much? It's good that you are going somewhere exciting for your break from work.

I've had a brief look at the day tours in L.A. Definitely Disneyland and Universal Studios like you, that Grand Tour of LA sounds good as well. I want to do a tour of the stars homes as well. It's amazing how quickly it all adds up $$ wise, will be totally worth it though.

Its coming around so quickly hey...soon we'll all be on tour together...yay!

I bet the Grand Canadian Tour was amazing! I would love to visit Canada but don't have any time (or money) to go this time unfortunately.

I'm still trying to decide what to do after New Orleans. I'm either going to go straight to NY or stay a few days. I think I might stay a few days to see a bit more of NO that the tour doesn't cover. Is that what you're doing?

I have accrued about 9 weeks worth of leave when we're only supposed to have 4. I was tapped on the shoulder a few months ago about it. It's good though because now I can go overseas.

I still haven't booked my accommodation or tours in LA. I am shocked at how expensive accommodation is over there. I also need to organise the NY part of my holiday. I am considering going to Niagara Falls on a 2 day tour. Have you decided yet what you'll be doing there?

I went to Niagra Falls when I went to Canada and its amazing!! You should definitely go if you get the chance.

I agree, accomm is expensive over there! New York is a killer! I've found L.A to be a lot more reasonable...still expensive though.

I'm staying in New Orleans for 2 nights after the Southern Adventure finishes...so the 26+27th May at the Contiki hotel, if you stay some extra nights maybe we can explore the city together. Then its four nights in Orlando and 6 nights in New York.

I'm just starting to plan what I want to do in New York...the possibilities are endless there...its just an amazing city and you could never do everything.

Wow nine weeks leave...what do you do? I've never accrued that much leave 5 weeks o/s will be such a great break.

I'm going to book another night at the Contiki hotel in New Orleans this weekend. Do you know which hotel we will be staying in? I have no idea, so hopefully the people at Harvey World Travel do.

You're so lucky that you're going to Orlando! I wish I could stay a few more days and go there. The pictures I have seen are amazing. You are going to have an absolute ball!

I've heard that seeing Niagra Falls from the Canadian side is definitely the way to go. I'll only be able to see it from the American side unforutnately, but I do still plan to go. I think it will be amazing.

What do you have planned for NY? I will probably only have time to see the obvious tourist attractions. I am also planning on going to see The Lion King on Broadway. I am really looking forward to it.

I work for the state government at the moment. I work for a Service Desk - so provide IT support to branch employees. What sort of work do you do?

I just booked onto the trip as well. Think i got the last spot.
Cant wait. I did a contiki across europe 5 years ago and always wanted to do another one ever since.
Im flying into LA on the 11th to chill for a few days and then after the trip i've got 9 days to play with before i head back so will play it by ear when im over there depending on what everyone else on the trip decides to do, although New York i hear is a must.
