I'm travelling solo on the Grand explorer on 22nd Dec from Christchurch to Auckland. There seem to be lots of people travelling either just before or after that date from CC or Queenstown etc., does that mean that we join up with different groups at different times?

I hope so because looks like I'm the only one on my trip so far!!

no .. it's a private tour ... just you, the TM and the driver. Pretty cool?

Don't worry since on avg, only 5% on tour know about the msgboards prior to the tour. You could be the sole individual who is aware of the boards. In any case, I think this tour starts on the 21, rather than the 22nd as you have mentioned.
