Hey guys and gals. I just finished reading 4 pages of this thread. This tour group sounds like everyone is gelling before the trip, which is awesome.
I also forgot my name is Ryan from Toronto. I dont want to get off topic but have to ask you guys a questions. Why did you choose the Grand Explorer over Grand Adventurer?
Lastly I might not be this tour. Just because its a 5 days earlier then expected.

Hey,

Anybody know if there is still room on this tour? I'm looking to go somewhere and this seem like a good group.

Hey Rach,
This group sounds like alot of fun. But I have a very complexed schedule. Like I said i'm from Toronto. I will be going to a wedding in Hawaii on Valentines weekend which is the 13-14th, then Im off to Australia for 9 days I will be in Sydney from the 15-20 and Melbourne on the 21-24 which I will be going to the Good Vibrations Festival. Now im just trying to stuck in between the Grand Explorer that departs on the 25th or the Grand Adventurer on the 27th.

Explorer154701, per the trip dates website there should still be room on our tour. I interpret the calendar to read, anything with a green box already has enough people signed up to travel, anything blue still needs people or has openings, and anything with other colors are pretty self explanatory.

Ryan, It sounds like from your response that you wouldn't be on this particular tour regardless of which trip you chose. I read somewhere that the Grand Explorer and Grand Adventurer are the same tour, with exception that the Grand Explorer has the few extra days in the Bay of Islands. I think the Explorer then joins up with the new travelers of the Adventurer after those few days when they come back to Auckland. I read that many of the shorter tours are actually subsets of the longer tours, and if you sign up for a shorter tour far into the larger tour, you may be at a social disadvantage with the group. This may not be the biggest deal, since we are all going on the trip to see New Zealand and the social aspect of the young, active tour group is a bonus. Why did Melissa and I choose the Explorer instead of the Adventurer? We were in the same boat, scratch that, 747, as you. We live around Chicago, and I believe NZ is like a 23 hour flight. We figured that we wont have too many chances to travel literally half way across the world, so we might as well stay as long as we could and see as much as we could. We had read that you want to probably take about week for the north island and a little over a week for the south island, which this trip fits the bill. We will be pretty much maxing out our vacation days for the year on this tour, otherwise we would have done something similar to you and trekked around Aussy while we were down there. That said, we decided that we have one shot at New Zealand, lets take the longest most complete tour offered.

What do I recommend for you? Read up on the itineraries for each day and decide for yourself. Good luck and happy travels!
