i am from melbourne, australia. havnt been out of the country yet so am thinking this could be an awesome start... where are you from???

so you are thinking about doing the reverse trip starting christchurch and ending auckland starting the 21st february and ending 7th march??? if i did that one i would go on the saturday stay one night at christchurch then stay the extra 3 days in auckland afterwards???

what do you think??? it would be nice to book the holiday knowing someone else would be booking the same as well!!!

I am glad to see that others are just as excited as me about doing this tour. What date is your Birthday Sarah? Mine is 2nd March. It would be great to celebrate all three of our Birthdays on the tour. How much fun would we have.

This will be the trip of a lifetime. I have done lots of tours, and have just come back from a cruise, and always have the best time. It is what you make of it.

As for spending money, I really have never had much in the way of spending money on any of my trips previously, but am planning on having about $2000 in total for this trip (including payment for the optional excursions).

I look forward to chatting with you, and hope to see you on the tour.

My birthday is the 7th of March so it is at the end of the tour but at least i have found people going on the tour in feb!!! no one really is looking at going in march and this one is still technically for my birthday anyways!!!

it would be awesome to have all three of us celebrating our birthdays... how funny that we are all in the same circumstances!!

well if you are looking at taking around $2000 i wont hesitate to book the holiday because i would definately be able to do that myself!!!

i am so excited but now i have to decide which exact tour to book... rach you are doing the one from auckland?? are you doing any extra nights at all???

oh i can't wait i am ready to start packing my bags right now!! lol i have only gone on one other contiki trip and it was a great experience but i am hoping this one will be better!! the people on the tour were too conservative and didnt want to just go out and have a good time...

but my birthday is at the end of january but not too many people were going on trips around then plus i wasnt sure if i wanted to be gone for my big 21st birthday... but i think it will be great all getting to celebrate them together!!

but as far as where i am thinking about starting i have no clue.. i think if you do the reverse you loose a day and since the 18 days is going to be 15 for me because of all the flying i dont want to loose another day. plus u only save $60. so i think i might just start auckland idk..

rach what one are you doing? and are u guys def. going to get there early or do the extra 3 days in auckland? cause i can't decide whether to do that or the scuba diving one in australia for 5 days

hey heather as far as i can tell rach has booked the one starting from auckland on the 21st of feb!!

i think i might book the one starting in auckland as well because rach has already and gives us a chance to all celebrate our birthdays together and have a great holiday!!!

aww sarah i am happy for you!! i was actually thinking about it tonight on the motorcycle and i was thinking about doing the one that starts in auckland too!! and you have me thinking about doing the 3 extra days in auckland as well!!

i am so ready to be going on this trip!!! i really want to start packing so maybe time will go by quicker lol but do any of you know what to pack? because idk what the weather is like there and to be honest i dress really girl 95% of the time and wouldn't even know what to begin packing and taking...

ok so on the coniki website... go to the Contikipedia section... and follow the prompts to new zealand... they have a article on what to pack when going on the new zealand contiki trips!!! you can print the list out and everything!! its awesome!!!

Just to clarify. Yep, I have booked. I am on the Auckland to Christchurch tour departing 21st February. I will arrive into Auckland only a day before, as I have been to Auckland quite a few times already. I will stay in Christchurch at the end of the tour for a couple of days, as I love Christchurch.

It is going to be great. The weather should be nice too. Not too hot, not too cold. Perfect.

ok.. so the travel agent i was going through doesnt seem very good anymore!!! so i am going to book through another one on the weekend!!!

one thing the travel agent said was that it is not a definate departure but i think it will end up being fine!! i will buy travel insurance just in case though!!!

i will book the same one as you and include the extra nights cos i have never been out of australia!!! SO EXCITED... lol

yea i got a travel agent when i signed up on the contiki website and NEVER do that!! he was the worst travel agent ever. he ended up cussing at me and telling me it was my trip and don't worry about all these little details i was concerned about... so contiki ended up giving me extra optional money because he was tech. a contiki representative. lol

but i am sure that it is really far in advance and will fill up quickly! did the agent say how many people were already going?

and sometime this week i am going to book my trip and will probably book the 3 extra days in auckland because that was one thing in europe i hated.. we didnt have enough time! plus this is my first time on this side of the world. omg i can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yea it was a good thing cause otherwise idk if i would have still gone! i was freaking out big time!!!

but maybe if you are interested since we are planning on doing both we could ask to be roommates? that way we know who we are staying with cause last time my roommate was a sweetheart but went to beg super early every night and never went out.. and i will be booking my trip my wednesday. i know we are on two different days.

and yes we will have many a couple drinks along the way!!! i can't wait i saw that there was an ice bar and i really want to go to one!!! we have nothing like that here in the states, well at least that i know of...

well i got a little too excited and went and booked my holiday today!!! but atleast we will no that we booked the same tour!!! i was not able to book the 2 nights extra as a twin share. they told me that i had to book it single... but my travel agent said when you have booked the tour she should be able to request a shared room for us and it will be cheaper!!!

this has just made me want to go so bad... lol it is gunna be the best trip ever... lol and it will be a new experience for both of us cos i have never been out of australia and you have never been this way... sooo cool!!!

ok so i am getting to auckland on the 19th staying the 3 days and 2 nights there extra then heading on the tour and i am also staying one extra night in christchurch on the 7th march and flying back home early in the morning on the 8th... i think my flight leaves at 7am or something crazy!!! lol

you will have more of a crazy holiday... your flight will be huge wont it???
