Who Else is going on (thinking of going on) this Awesome Trip!!

I cannot wait. I have done the South Island, but this time I am going to do it all. Bring on the adventure, the adrenalin, the thrills, the culture, the people and the great crew that will deliver all that New Zealand has to offer.

And best of all we will be hitting Queenstown on my Birthday. Yay!

Would love to hear from anyone else that is going to do this tour, or is thinking about it.

Do you think on the tours you get to see the true New Zealand or would it be worth going back over it on your own terms after? Im going to do the grand explorer which seems to incorporate all of the other tours so wouldnt really want to do any others since it'd be the same

Thanks!

Hi Nic,

Yep you get to see all of N.Z. The culture, history, fun, action, adventure, sights and sounds. It is really comprehensive. And the tour managers and drivers really make it all the much better. They are local, know the ins and outs of N.Z and really give you the best. Things that we wouldn't know about, or find out about they seek out and show us. It's the best way to see the country.

Hi Leanne,

You will love this trip, and so many people do it on their own. Every trip I have ever taken has been solo. It is sometimes better that way. You get to do what you want, without having to please anyone else.

Where are you from? Have you been to New Zealand before?

Hey,

I live in Toowoomba Queensland, 21 and work as an accountant (not as boring as the title sounds :-)

I have never travelled out of Australia so really looking forward to it. Everyone keeps telling me that New Zealand is so beautiful and there is so much stuff to do. Its good to hear that a lot of people travel on their own. Makes me feel more reassured that i wont end up being the lone loser. lol. Heading to the travel agent tomorrow. Hope lots of people book so it doesnt get cancelled. Going to go over a couple of days earlier to check out Auckland and staying a day extra in Christchurch at the end.

Are you in Australia as well?

Yep, Leanne, am not that far away from you, just a couple of hours. I live in Brisbane. 32 year old Insurance Manager (also not boring)

I have a couple of friends that are Tour Managers, they say that February/March is the best time to go, they beleive that there is no chance the tour will be cancelled.

Am so excited about doing it! Am sure that time will go fast, as it seems to, and we will be packing our bags to go, before we realise it.

Look forward to meeing you on the tour, if not before.

sarah my birthday is a little less than a month before the tour date everyone seems to be choosing and i am just going to celebrate it while i am gone still! only i am turning 21!

and going on is the best! i was so nervous going alone to europe this summer because i was shy and kind of reserved, but having no one made me just go out there and have the time of my life!! i can't wait to travel again by myself. u dont have to worry about anyone else and what they want or dont want during the trip

ha ha that sounds awesome!!! if i came on the tour i would love to celebrate your 21st there as well. the only thing i am unsure of is how much spending money i will need to take. im worried i wont have enough so i havnt booked it yet! would you have any advice on that?

well just know that you can't use you credit card for you optionals with contiki you have to pay cash. so take that into consideration. and make sure that your credit card is excepted in the country you are going to! cause i brought my discover card as emergency extra money and turns out it wasnt excepted over there in europe!..

it also depends on if there is anything expensive you are planning on buying, like when i went to europe i really wanted a nice tea set. when i went to london, paris, and rome in june i spent 2500 but that was food tours and everything! so i just suggest add up all the optionals you want to do and then make sure you have extra. i was planning on having 1500 not including my optionals.

we would definitely have a lot of fun celebrating our birthdays though! do you know where you are going to start if you book it?

i was thinking about starting with the optional extra 3 days in auckland, then start the tour there which ends in Christchurch and stay one night extra there because the tour finish's at 6pm and i couldnt think of anything worse than flying back home straight after and of course thats my brithday so i wanna stay a little longer. then head home back to Oz on the 8th.

i havnt booked yet but am definately thinkin this is the one!!! i think i will just save everything i can and if i dont have enough to do some of the extra activities i will just relax on those days!!! i am a person who loves to do everything if i can and make the most of the holiday!!! but if i cant i can just take in the beautiful scenery and take photos...

what are you thinking about doing?

well i dont where i was going to start. one of the girls on here had a really good idea and that was to do the reverse one so all the extreme stuff is first and towards the end u can just relax. and then u could always end up doing the 3 days in auckland then to kind of unwind and relax! that would definitely be stinky if u flew on ur birthday!! thats what i was running into when i was looking at leaving february 3rd or trips around there it was too close to my birthday and would be too much stress and no fun, i am really glad i saw everyones posts and changed the date.

but i was actually thinking about flying over to australia to do the 5 day scuba diving trip or also doing the auckland extension for 3 days.

i totally agree with the way you think! i want to try everything in life at least once and just make the most of my trips whether its the optionals or just exploring the cities! when i went on my cruises thats all we would do is explore and find these totally crazy places.
