I fly out from Sydney on New Years Day... but silly me didn't think about that when I booked my flights! I fly out at 8:30am... which means I have to be at the airport at like 6am on New Years Day!!! YUCK!! At least I've got a day or two before the tour starts to get over that!

I'm from the States and I have an extra long winter break from grad school, and thought this will probably be my last time to travel for a while.
I'm 27 and am traveling alone. I'm arriving in Christchurch late on Jan 1st, so if anyone is getting there early and would like to do some extra exploring, I'm up for it.
If anyone else is flying in from the States, it's much cheaper to fly into Aukland and then get a one-way down to Christchurch. The best rates I found were on Air Pacific- which means an obligatory stop in Fiji. Upsetting.
I get in on the 1st too... my plane gets into the airport at about 12:30 I think. I think that's a great idea meeting up so that way we're not all on our lonesome for the first night in NZ!! Only 50 more sleeps (well maybe 49 cos I doubt I'll sleep on NYE!) until I go !
