I'm in the process of booking the grand explorer Auckland(29 Oct 08) to Christchurch(12 Nov 08)
Anybody else planning on doing this tour as well?

Hey Tracie, both myself and my girlfriend are booked to do this tour. So don't worry, you wont be on your own. I'm 26 and from Ireland, and my girlfriend is 27 and from Norway.

I noticed that you are doing the USA Grand Northern on Sep 12. We are doing the Northern Escape tour which starts from Chicago on Sept 23 which I think is the same tour as yours. So you'll be sick of us by the time we get to Christchurch!

So what are you doing in the time between the end of the northern escape and the GE in NZ. I have another tour b/w and go home to Aus for 6 days to change the stuff that i have in my bag and to catch up on some sleep and the fly back over to NZ

Hey, changed my name to brian_c earlier, don't know why it has gone back to being Explorer1103912 again. If it had shown up as brian_c you could have guessed that my name was Brian. My girlfriend is Elisabeth.

After arriving in LA we are spending a few days doing the sights and theme parks before heading to San Francisco. We are then going to Hawaii for a few days, followed by a week in Fiji. We arrive in Auckland the day before the Grand Explorer tour starts. After that we are flying to Sydney and doing a tour with another company from Sydney to Cairns. Then a week in Thailand before heading back to work in Dublin. Basically fitting in as much as possible into the three months I got off from work.

when do you start the tour in sydney? i live about 1 1/2 hours out of sydney at the bottom of the blue mountains

We leave Sydney on Sunday 16th November, so spending 3 nights there first. We went to Sydney last year, very nice part of the world and I'm looking forward to getting back.

I love sydney but i would say that as it is my home town

Should I mention that I preferred Melbourne

I am going mad waiting for this trip to happen now, still two more months in work before we leave. I feel like it will never come.

So that's three of us on the tour now. Anyone else out there want to reveal themselves?

Alot of people do prefer melbourne but i don't i'm a born an bred sydney girl so i'm not big on melbourne..they have like 4 seasons in 1 day which would annoy me all the time

It will come up pretty quick it doesn't seem that long since i was away on my last contiki tours but that was a year ago already...crazy...time goes too fast

i guess people will start to reveal themselves closer to the date...hopefully

Sydney does have the Waratah's though which may just swing it for me.

Hey do you have MySpace or Facebook? It'd be nice to keep in touch before the tour so we know at least one face when we join a tour where everyone already has been travelling for a week (in Chicago for the US tour of course, not this one).

I was looking at the dates and rates of the GE and there is a tick for the guaranteed departure which is good for us...stoked and can't wait
