I will be traveling solo on this trip arriving a day early. I am from Atlanta, GA so will be a little jet lagged but look forward to meeting all of you. I am very excited about the trip and cannot wait. This will be my first contiki trip. Where are you staying the day before the trip?

I will be staying at the Mercure too. My plane should arrive around 5:30 am so I should get to the hotel around 7:00 am. Real EARlY! I may try to stay up and take in some sights. We should all get together some time during the day for drinks. I hope I am not the oldest one on the trip. How old are you guys? I am turning 29.
I'm pretty certain you won't be the oldest on tour at just 29. I'm 25 and Ben's 24. Our flight doesn't get in until 6:15 pm, so won't get to the hotel until 7:30 or so. But we'll certainly be up for some drinks once we get there. What optionals are you looking at doing on tour? Bungy jumping perhaps?
I am not sure which excursions I will do, yet. Highly unlikely I will do the bungy jumping unless someone can twist my arm. I think I will just have some drinks and watch. I am having trouble deciding what I need to pack because they say it is summer in February but can get in the 50's -60's. In Atlanta when it is in the 50's it is cold. I guess I am not sure if I should bring sandals and closed toe shoes and what type of jacket to bring if any. I am trying to cut back on what I pack. Any idea?
I'm sure there will be a few of us from the Jan 26th Grand Explorer (start Christchurch) that will be around still in auckland the night your around so keep your eye out :P I'm sure we'll be the one's with a massive smile, looking tired. I'm sure ppl would be happy to chat. Anyway we may see you crazy kids around the Macure.

It is New Zealand so it can get cold there even in summer. I've been watching what the temperatures have been lately and it hasn't been getting lower than 17 celcius (about 62 farenheit). Of course that's max temps so it's obviously going to get colder at night. I'll certainly be taking my jacket along.
I'm the same age Kristy so never fear about the age factor. I did a short trip with contiki here in Australia last year and had a ball. I'm flying in on the 11th about noon and doing the Skyjump that afternoon at 4pm, I think that should be a great start to my holiday. I'm not staying at the Mecure before hand but at the Aspen House which I have been told is only a 5 minute walk away. I think it would be a great idea if we could catch up the day/night beforehand.
Its great to start counting down in days rather than weeks.
I think we should definitely meet the day/night before. Maybe we could meet at the bar at the Mercure Hotel and venture out from there. Who knows maybe we will be roomies...I cannot wait..I have already started packing.

Hello guys! I leave tomorrow morning and wanted to see if you guys wanted to meet at the Mercure Bar around 6:00 pm and go to dinner after that maybe around 7:00. I wonder who else is going to be on the tour with us? Only a few people have signed on to this post.
