yeah, i am going solo too, it was a spur of the moment decision based on the fact i couldnt get into any US tours on such short notice, and i want to spend New Years in another country.

Hi. I'm booked on this tour as well. I booked months ago and was told that this tour was almost full back then so I'm sure we won't be the only people on the tour.

I just signed up for this trip. I called a week ago and they said it was sold out. These dates really worked for me so I tried again Friday and here was space so I booked, I did not even have flights booked at the time lol

I am from Toronto Canada and I am travelling solo. I have done a few Contiki's and did a two week tour of Australia last year that was awesome. Contiki's are so much fun, see cool stuff during the day, party at night, and have friends from all over the world by the end of the trip.

I fly in December 21. Friday night in Aukland so if anyone is up for getting a few drinks let me know.

Wow, sold out... that's great! It's always fun with a big group of people!

I also did a Contiki last year, 36 day Europe trip.

I fly in on the 21st as well, but I don't get in till about 10:30pm... so I think I'll be crashing out in my hostel ready for a big 2 weeks of fun!!

I could be persuaded into having a drink at the hostel though :P I'm staying at City Lodge.

I agree the more people the better. I have been on a tour with 32 people and one with 52 people. The full ones are better because it just means there will be more people to hang out with and that you get along better with. Every Contiki is a good time though lol

I did a 29 Europe trip that really fun and long. I guess after 36 day you get pretty close with people. This tour is different from Europe tours as people will be getting on and off this tour at different points. Grand Explorer people are on it for the entire trip but others (Adventurer, Scenic Souther, Northern) will be getting on and off. On my Oz Contiki, we went Sydney to Cairns. People got on in Brisbane and Whitsundays. It was hard for them as they were joining a group that was already together for some time.

Can't wait. I think I did the math and we spend New Years Eve in Queenstown. It can't get any better than that

Is everyone staying at the contiki hostel in Christchurch after the tour?

I'm getting so excited.
How much of the option extras is everyone here doing?
I'm keen to do the 3 bungee jump package, the 12,000ft sky dive, white water rafting and the black water rafting and probably the shotover jet.
The zorbing looks fun too.
Oh and the BBQ boat ride/swimming etc at Bay Of Islands. oohh.

I wonder what the weather will be like. I'm trying to figure how much warm/cool clothes I should pack!!

I am staying one extra night at the Contiki hotel in Christchurch after the trip (Beasley something?) Then I fly home on the 6th.

Looking at the optionals really kind of gets you excited. Especially with all the adreneline activities .... 3 bungee jumps lol. Have you done it before ? I think I am just going to do one. I am doing all the optionals you are, zorbing for sure. I am also doing the River Boarding and the optional dinners are always a good time.
