I recently got back from my london/paris trip which was wonderful. However, the imperial hotel in london was AWFUL. My sister, who just finished her LAST day there yesterday, had her room robbed of $500 worth of stuff by hotel staff. Everything she bought in London was stolen, and unfortunately, since it was her last day, she wouldn't be able to get anything. The hotel was not helpful at all, neither were the contiki staff. This is not the first time this has happened in this hotel with contiki travellers. My sister had her things tucked away in her CLOSED suitcase. If contiki hears complaints like this often ...why would they pick such a poor place for it's travelers. For the price we pay, we should have a safer hotel, and MORE touring. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE OUT INSURANCE.

If you read reviews on tripadvidor.com both the imperial and royal national have pretty bad reviews. Granted, a lot of them are probably from families and older people who expected more. I am considering a London-Paris tour in may, but now am considering just doing it on my own.

Ya, i've read the tripadvisor reviews also. I think the Imperial would be a better choice. Are we allowed to substitute a different hotel on the Contiki tours?

I'm sorry to hear about the incidence. So many London Hotels out there, it is not easy to pick a good one and sometimes you ended up paying way more than what you get. I have used this site for London Hotels and found it very useful.

Oh wow, why hasn't the contiki staff changed hotels? I would hope after hearing several complaints and bad reviews, something would be done about this.

I agree! I never heard of this before, because most of the Hotels London are pretty acceptable. Definitely, something should be done about it.

I am hearing the same thing. I called Contiki to complain and they said there is nothing they can do.

That's horrible. I'm staying there next month, I'll be arriving a few days early to do some sightseeing that's not included on the tour and now I'm really nervous about leaving my bags there while I'm out for the day.
I suppose it would be a good idea to make sure to have locks on my bags? Has anyone heard any stories of peoples luggage going missing all together?

Oh God, that's one of travelers worst nightmares, I would've gone mental at the hotel! I'm considering this trip, but that makes me super nervous... maybe we should chain out suitcases to the bed ...

Have they changed hotels yet??? Which hotel do you stay at in France?

I'm doing the London, Paris, Amsterdam tour and the Paris hotel for that is Hotel Ibis Porte De Bercy Charenton Le Pont, which doesn't look like much, and the Amsterdam hotel is Blue Square Amsterdam, which seems pleasant.
