My friend just purchased a universal adapter at Kohl's for $19.99. As far as currency, I think I may just take out from the ATM when I get over there. I have to remember to tell my bank that I'm headed overseas!
And for a phone? I'm not sure. My brother has a few old phones (that use SIM cards.) I am going to look into them to see what are compatible (it is quad band technology that we need, correct?) and then maybe buy a SIM card in London. Would I then need to purchase another in Paris, or would that problem be solved if I unlocked the phone?

Sara, I just added you on Facebook!

I think I'm just going to use my cell phone if I need to. I have a blackberry which should work fine in Europe. I just have to add the international plan for the time I'm over there.

I've yet to sort out my phone situation. I know, superb, suuuuperb! Knowing me I might get one in London. I wonder if anyone has done that before. I'll poke around on the rest of the msg boards/FAQs and see what I get.

Hey Jim,
My friend and I land in Heathrow around 8 AM (I believe) so if you're still around we're planning on taking the Underground as well. I'll double check our flight info when I get home tonight and let ya know.

Hi Jim. My flight is supposed to get in around 7am too. I plan on taking the underground; so I wouldn't mind figuring it out with someone else. I thought I read in one of the contiki guides I received that it would be running that early.

Has anyone been to LHR to know of a possible landmark area to meet? We may want to exchange airline and flight numbers so we can check if flights are on time. I wouldn't want anyone waiting around too long if my flight is delayed. What do you guys think?

Ive never been to LHR, but if you choose a place to meet thats cool let me know, or maybe by baggage claim, being we know what flights the other will be on.. My flight is continental c028, flying from Newark (EWR)...

I'm on Delta DL003 scheduled to arrive 7:05am. I'm arriving in terminal 4 and according to LHR's website Delta & Continental arrive in the same terminal. So baggage could be fine. I'm looking at www.heathrowairport.com and there are maps of the terminal. We could pick a point on the map as a meeting place. What do you think?

Kara - what airline are you on?

We're on American Airlines Flight 104. We arrive in Terminal 3 and don't get in until 8:25 A.M. I thought it was more like 8:05. If that doesn't work out, maybe we'll cross paths while stowing our luggage at Royal National and then heading back out for the day.

Michelle,

Ok so we can either meet at one of the baggage claims or maybe at the starbucks? My trip advisor said it takes about an hour to gather luggage and get through immigrations, so i dont know whether its easier to meet before or after this process, let me know what your thinking.

Hi Jim. How about the Starbucks. My thought is that we might have an easier time locating each other there rather than baggage claim. Maybe we can look for each other near the entrance to the starbucks? I will have a backpack and one suitcase. I will probably be in jeans, a t-shirt and have a jacket (casual rain jacket as seen at like LL Bean) if that helps identify me. :-) We can then make our way to terminal 3 to meet Kara or meet her at the contiki basement. thoughts?

Starbucks sounds good to me, i will also have a suitcase and a backpack, and also in jeans and t -shirt maybe a grey jacket on, and yea im down to go meet kara either at either terminal 3 or at the contiki basement, i figure we can play that by ear depending on how long it'll take to get through all the protocol at the aiport, What hotel are you staying at, im staying at imperial hotel, i dunno if one is nicer than the other, but i know all our meetings will be at the royal national.
