How did you book your flight already? I spoke with a travel agent who said he couldn't do anything yet because they didn't announce the 2009 dates. I wanna book my flight! haha Do you have the 2009 dates?

well I have been watching the dates for the last two years and have figured out that because I am wanting to go on the tour that goes to Gallopili for Anzac Day, so I counted back the number of days and every year the tour leaves on March 28th! I am not sure about the other tours though.

I booked my flights because all the fuel etc was going up and new a rough date that the tour starts so I just went for it....the tour itself we cant book until october

I am so jealous that you have booked your flights already. I am doing round the world and heading to Hawaii, Canada and New York first and I am waiting for some dates for canada so i can't book anything yet. Which is really annoying. Can I ask which travel agent you are using?

I am the jealous one....that will be amazing all before coming on this trip. I have just booked through Flightcentre, they are great. You can book all your flights over, just not the return yet and you are allowed one free change

Hi,

My new hubby & I are leaving on the 28 March tour (to get to Gallipoli on Anzac Day). So exited - weve never been overseas. We are 26 & 28 from Northern NSW, Australia.

Cool I was on the money then when I thought about $15k to do it.

Im hoping to pay for the trip up front when I book it (as soon as the dates become available) then I have atleast another 6 months to save the rest of the spending money.

Plus Im banking my annual leave and only taking the minimum I have to, so that while away I still have an income stream coming in if I ever need anymore cash (lol!)

Hello,

My name is Martin. I'm 22 year old male from Brisbane Australia. This is my first year out of university and am now looking forward to going on a well deserved holiday. I was originally planning for one this year (and would've ended up in Amsterdam on my b'day), but instead decided to get a foothold in my career. Probably a good thing now with the financial crisis around the world.

As a result i am now looking at the ultimate European in late March (once i know about the dates and rates). ANZAC day at Gallipoli would be a wonderfull experience.

I'm interested in how much people are planning on saving. The talk on this board has been between $10,000 to $15,000. Does that include the actual tour price as well as the airfares and spending money? or do people expect to pay extra for these costs?

I want to book everything early especially the airfares to ensure i get a good flight seat, especially being 6'7'', without forking out extra for business class.

I'm pretty sure i'll be alright. I've currently got $12,000 saved up and that's still six months out. Plus i'm going to try and take my paid recreation leave as well as any accrued FLEX time (hopefully an extra week). That way i will still be getting paid while on holidays, and any extra time i can take unpaid recreation leave.

Best of luck with everyone else trying to save during these times.

Cheers

Martin

they've finally updated the contiki website with next years European tours (at least the australian). I've just been able to print out the Ultimate European tour details for 2009. I'll try and book the tour on the weekend and then it'll just be a matter of waiting.hopefully the special early bird deals they are advertising apply to the March 28 2009 trip (it does say 1st of April though). I would be great to save up to $700 if they did apply.

hi everyone!

my boyfriend and i booked in on wednesday for UE greek islands (march 28) - so so exciting! we've been planning this trip for almost a year now and have paid for everything - now just saving madly for spending $$$

my name's taryn and i'm 22 and my boyfriend's name is ben and he's 19. we're from sydney and plan on spending about 6mths in europe in total - ben's family lives in switzerland so after the tour we'll go and stay there and do some travelling on our own.

we managed to get the earlybird discount ($289 discount each) only because our travel agent fought with the contiki ppl as technically it's less than 6mths till the tour leaves. the only way contiki caved was if we paid IN FULL on wednesday (which luckily we had the cash to do). plus our travel agent gave us an extra $100 discount each which worked out to be a massive saving.

anyway, it's great to meet some of you already, i hope we can get to know each other before we leave.

taryn xx

Hi All,

I have booked into the UE March 2009, and are heading to Egypt. My name is Renee, and i am a 21 year old RN from Dalby, Queensland.

I cant wait to meet all of you on our first night in London. I am flying solo, on my first trip ever (i havent even been interstate), so i am very nervous.

Is anyone else on this trip only a minimal drinker, as i am worried about contikis reputation as a party tour.

I hope to get to know some of you, it will be good to have friends before we leave Smiler

Renee
