Hello! I've recently decided to do UE in 2009 as well. I'm moving to England (Lancashire) for a while in Oct or Nov of this year and then will be working there until the UE tour. I'm not 100% sure when to do it but was thinking about a May start date.

It's great to know there are heaps of other people planning as far in advance as me! I'm just having a major stress about money is all!

lol i've been stalking these forums waiting for an UE 09 thread to pop up!

my boyfriend and i will be hitting up the march 28th tour (if dates stay roughly the same), greek islands option - they've been number 1 on my list of places to visit for a long time. we'll also probably do a few extra days before the tour in london, then a few in prague after, before heading to switzerland for a week to visit my boyfriend's family who've just moved there.

we're both super excited & have started saving like crazy (in the meantime we're gonna be so poor for the next year but it will be worth it!)

totally agree with what a few of the other guys mentioned - read dave's travelog! it's really informative & makes you get even more excited about doing the tour yourself!

and katva - i'll be 23 when the tour comes around so don't worry - i'm sure we won't feel too old

where are you guys from? we live in sydney, it'd be cool to get to know a few other ppl doing the tour before it started

Hey i'm also planning on going on the UE in march 09.

Just told the boss today that i will be going for 10 weeks, he was a bit shocked.

I'm planning on going a couple of weeks before and after, might stay longer if I get a job or something.

I'm luke, 22 and from the gold coast,

like others have said, it will be to awesome to know the others going on the trip.

i'm facing a similar dilemma with the work situation, although i'm not planning on telling my boss until the middle of the year i think (when i sign my new contract). hopefully she'll be ok, if not then i'll have to just quit - there's never really going ot be a more ideal time & i've put off traveling for too long already!

my boyfriend's lucky because he'll be just finishing his degree so he doesn't have to worry about work etc.

so far i've saved just less than a tenth of what i need - lol quite a long way to go i know!
are other ppl budgeting a similar amount to what's already been mentioned? i'm thinking $18k should be enough to cover everything - what do ppl think?

I going to try and save about $20k - $25k thats for about 10 weeks though.

I'm planning on seeing Egypt, although it would be fun cruising the greek islands. It will be great to see the pyramids and tombs. Going with Contiki would be my best chance at seeing Egypt, as i probably wouldn't want to go by myself, it sounds pretty dangerous.

I'm trying to save $25K but that's including my move to England. However, once I'm working in England I'll be saving as much as I can there too. But I'm thinking $14000 for the whole UE tour with Egypt.

I am also looking at doing this tour in March 09 with the Greek Islands option. To all of those that are worried about being old - at this stage I beat all of you in age so don't stress.
