Wow, Only about 5 weeks left!

I haven't really been thinking about it lately cos I've been so busy at work, last time I checked it was 9 weeks to go then all of a sudden 5 weeks

I'll be going on this trip also by myself as a 20 year old from cobar western nsw. Getting really stoked up about this trip! i'll be going a two day tour of london before i head off on the trip. I've chosen the eygpt option as i've also wanted to go there.

I was just reading some of the posts... I am freaking a little about the weight thing also. 20kg isn't much for me.. Hell I take 30 just to go over to Sydney to visit my brother!

I found the packing list posted by contiki a little helpful, at least it pointed me in the right direction as to what to pack. I am a bit of a high maintenance gal though, so my idea of a packing list often includes a hair dryer, curlers and a hefty make-up kit.. Didn't see that on the packing list for sure!

Was a little worried though about the toilet paper on the packing list... Call me crazy but I kinda thought that was included?!

Anywho I was expecting to rough it, I guess this is all part of the experience! HAHA.

I've done 3 test packs already and my bag is probably close to the limit and I still dont have any shoes in there I don't know what I'm going to do, I don't know how to pack light...I feel like I need everything!

Only a couple of wks now ..

So whats the plan ??

Are we all gonna try and catchup for a drink the night before or something like that ??

Assuming we get in on time etc.

I say we all catch up, If the RN has a bar why don't we meet there on the 18th at say 1900??

That will give me enough time to freshen up, and have a quick nap

catch up would be great...but at 1900 hours we are supposed to be meeting for our pre tour meeting in the contiki basement at the RN. I have attached a link that explains it. So we will be able to have a drink at one of the bars after our meeting. This time next month we will be in Paris....woohooo...!!!!

My names Tracey, im 31 and from New Zealand. Im also doing the tour, with the Egypt option. Only decided a couple of weeks ago so have lots of things to sort at home before i leave. I get into London on the 6th Aug so have a couple of weeks before the tour and still not sure what im going to do with the time yet. Or where im going to stay (have still to book some accommodiation). If anyone would like to meet before the tour for a drink or two that would be great.

Not that long to go now, been that busy working hard to get a few extra dollars up for spending money that I haven't seen the time go. I get into the airport on the 18th 05.50 so I have plenty of time to look around before the meeting and get lost on the tube on the way to the hotel !!
Hi Tracey welcome, the tour leaves from the Royal National so thinking that most of us are staying there the night before we leave.

Welcome aboard. You sound like you've got heaps to organise in such a short time. Leigh & I will be in london on Sunday night 17th Aug, and will be staying at the Royal National. Only 13 sleeps till we leave for Scotland...then Contiki here we come....!

By the way, what is everyone doing bout money, my travel agent has advised Travelex Cards are the best option...?

As for money, I saved up cash I guess I'll be taking out of the ATM and I have my two credit cards that I haven't maxed out on this trip lol. I was thinking of getting a travellers check only so I would have money left to tip the tour guide and the driver so I wouldn't spend that money

Christie I just got one of travelex cards that the bank issues, the withdrawal fees are cheaper and there no surprises with the exchange rates, They appear to be good idea. debit and credit cards will still be handy though as you can still use them anywhere.

I'm Lisa...27 from Canada. Can't wait to meet you all and start on this amazing adventure!! I'll be doing the Contiki Southern Ireland tour first, then staying with my brother in England before the trip starts...flying out this Friday, it's gonna be awesome!! People have told me I'm crazy to go alone, guess we're all nuts...I just figure we're going with a bunch of friends we haven't met yet!! Haha...it'll be great!!!!!
