Is anyone still planning on doing this tour? I am in the process of making a facebook group for it, probably a bit early for that but oh well!

If you haven't read Dave Challenger's travelogue, its worth reading. When he went to Europe for 73 days including UE+Egypt, it cost roughly €15,000. Pricey, but I am more worried about how thinly the aussie dollar may spread next year. :|

Really excited about going though!

I read Dave's travelogue the other day, it was a really good read.

Hopefully the aussie dollar will be better next year but I am saving more than I have to so that I will still have enough money if the dollar drops further.

I cannot wait to book, then it will all actually feel real.

Hi all

I'm planning on doing the 210 UE for ANZAC Day + Egypt. I'm so excited!! But I read you can't book until October? Why is that? This will be my first Contiki tour and I'm flying solo. I can't wait till next year already!!

foxxyrainbow - I suppose they can't open to many dates in advance otherwise they would have to many bookings etc to maintain.

I am getting so excited! Only 8 and a bit months to go, better than over a year to go.

I can't wait to book this!

From older threads, it appears that contiki releases the dates in the second week of october. Hopefully this means that we can book on October 12th!

Though, having to wait until October is a pain when trying to organise a whole gap year. :/

On the bright side, the aussie dollar has recovered quite a bit!

Peter: I work near a bank and I am always checking the exchange rate board while I do the banking each day. I hope it continues getting better like our dollar in America has been. Pounds isn't looking to good though.

Not long until October I suppose, but yeah it is extremely annoying when trying to plan other things around contiki. Are you planning on doing travelling before or after the tour? I am hoping to maybe go to Scotland before hand but I am also planning on staying in London afterwards and working so I might end up just doing it afterwards.

Is anyone getting a Travelex card? I was thinking about it but now I am thinking maybe a debit credit card is the way to go.

AUDGBP is currently about 0.500 which is very good considering it used to be about 0.380. Though, I'll be spending euros more than anything.

I'm travelling beforehand and afterwards; planning to be in southern/eastern africa for 2.5 months prior to UE and then spend an additional 4 months in north africa, eastern europe studying & backpacking before I hit asia.

I'm going to apply for a NAB Gold cc before I leave. Although it requires a monthly fee, it suits my purpose as it means there's fewer fees associated with international transactions. Probably not worth it if you're not gone for too long though.

I want to go to Africa at some stage, no plans at the moment though. I want to do Asia before Africa.

I asked my boss for 8 weeks off next year for this tour plus a bit before and after, he said yes!

I'm thinking of getting to Heathrow at 5am on the 26th March is anyone planning to be there then? Also, is anyone staying afterwards? I would love to have someone to explore with for a fews days.

I'll probably be arriving in London (Stansted or Luton) from Munich on March 27th... but as I obviously haven't yet booked, I'm only guessing.

London is best discovered in 4 to 5 consecutive days, depending on what you wish to do. Over weekends is best as well due to markets and nightlife.

I'm planning on staying for about 2 weeks afterwards, I will be going to Scotland in that time too.
