I had to apply for a working holiday visa for the UK. This is because I'm planing on working in London after the tour. That is the only visa I have applied for.

I had my last day at work yesterday and finally i can get excited about the trip.

I will be arriving in London on the 31 March and it looks like I may be the first one to arrive.

thats a relief then, i have a working visa as well, and plan to do the same as you. tho i dont know if i will stay in london. it might be a bit too expensive for me.

at least you have finished work. i finish in another week. can't come soon enough either. what did you do for a job?

are you staying at the national till the tour?
i had a place to stay until the 10th but they are going on holiday so i can only stay there till the 4th, so i have to find somewhere else now.

Yes I'm also worried about the cost of living in London so I will see if I can get a job out of town. I'm an Architect.

Hey guys! My husband and I are coming on the trip too. Can't wait to finally get over there! We are arriving on 10th and also staying at Royal. Oh and also doing Egypt option. Just a quick question re VISA's, does anyone have one for Turkey and Egypt yet? I was told they were the only two we would need with an aussie passport, but I was told that we can get them on entry into these places, at the border/airports, and that it was easy as to get them? Is anyone else freaking out about this?
i guess I still have 3 (3!!!) weeks to sort it out. There's nothing like leaving it all to the last minute!! Can't wait to meet all you guys soon. Cheers! Tracey & Trent

hey tracey and trent. nice of you to join us! i just got all my tickets etc today, so the count down is on! i have already got the visa for egypt. i organised it through travel agent. had to send passport to egypt embassy in melb. not 100% sure but i think us aussies have to organise it before we get to egypt. i have been told turkey visa can be received at turkey border, but need to have US$20 each to get it. it took about a week to 10 days for egypt visa to be processed. i will be at royal national for 2 nights before the trip too. cant wait to meet you all. cheers!

Hey Dan thanks heaps for the visa info, i guess I'll have to get that sorted now, with easter public hols it could take a bit longer.
I think my brain is in holiday mode already and everyone at work is sick of hearing about the trip!!! Oh well not long now, It'll be great to meet you all. Cheers! T&T

My name is Teri and I'm friends with blacksheep, we're going together on the tour..I'm so excited! Only 20 days to go now!!
I'm from Perth, Western Australia too and like the rest of you, am using the tour as a taste tester of what's on offer in Europe and then staying in the UK afterwards to work and travel. Been madly applying for jobs and awaiting the arrival of my British passport! We arrive in London on April 9, can't remember if we're staying at the Generator or National (Terry, can YOU tell me!!) so would be great to meet up with a few of you before the tour starts! Especially as we all seem to be staying back afterwards!!!

My boyfriend and i are also joining u all the tour and im really sad that most of u on here will be going to egypt rather than the greek islands.. ohhh and most of u will be staying in london and looking for jobs, especially all the assies.. Unfortunately for us it will be our final euro trip. We are from sydney and just finished our 12months of wrkn in the uk so its back home for us.
I just finished reading daves travelogue and it sounds amazing, we are gona have an AWESOME time!!
SA+KIWI BOY, im also taking my laptop but still unsure if it will be safe leaving at so many hostels..
Carli, i just joined ur group on facebook. just waiting for an acceptance!!
Well not long before we all meet..
ohh i need girl help with my packing im still not sure what to bring HELP!! cheers guys!!

Hey Laura and Aj!
We are only staying two nights after the tour is finished and then we are back to Oz as well.
My best advice with what to pack is to pack about a weeks worth of clothes, reasons 1) you have to carry your backs up stairs etc 2) you can wash along the way, there are laundrys at most stays and some you can pay someone to wash and dry your things for pick up the next morning. I would say take at least one set of "going out" clothes and the rest just general t's and shorts etc. underwear/ bras/ Pj's can be washed in the shower/sink.
We are from the Central Coast so it's nice to know someone else from close by will be joining us! Apart from the rest of the packing I guess if you can't fit something you can always buy it along the way!
Well only 20 days till we can all (?) meet in London, we are getting really excited, have packed twice already as a trial run and we still come in under the 20kg!

Thanks Tracy, its just been so hard to pack coz not only am i packing my contiki stuff but we're putting all our other belongings into boxes to ship home. so its double the trouble!
Ur right about buying things along the way, thats a plan for sure!! Cant wait for turkey i think thats where ill go broke but never mind theres always creditcards!!
I think 80% of the bus will be australians, thats unreal! i havnt spoken to an aussie here for such a long time so im really looking forward to meeting u all.. We are staying at the royal on the 10th aswell like so many and its gona be so weird walking past people as we arrive not knowing whether ive spoken to them on the internet.. oh well not to worry.. ill see u all the closest bar with a beer in hand ready to party with the lot'o'ya!!

Hey everyone! I just received my travel documents today. Yay! Its starting to feel like this trip is finally happening!! I only wish that I was arriving earlier with everyone else because I feel like I'll miss out on some pre-tour bonding time
