My roommate and I were going to do the UE with greek isles options that departed the U.S. on May 11th, but it was full. Now we are doing the May 2nd departure. Is anyone else planning or already booked for this tour? We know a few guys who are going, but we wanted to see who else was! Thanks!

Hey there, assuming this is the May 4th one (in Aussie)??? If so, then we have booked in for that trip, but with the Egypt option. You still going on this one? we missed the one on the 11th too! Would be nice to find out when people are going...

Cheers!

I would guess that it is the same trip since you guys are a couple days ahead of us, timewise. Are you guys coming alone or are there others coming along for the fun? I'm 19 and my roommate is 20. We met a couple guys who booked with us. I'm so excited... Time is going by so fast. We will be at the airport before we know it! My email is aludwig@mail.usf.edu if you want to chat! I should be paying attention in class so hope to hear from you soon! Later

Yeah awesome. Nice to finally catch up with someone going on this trip. I was getting worried no one out there was going at this time. I can't see why not. Still a beautiful time of year to go to Europe, and not too hot!
At the moment it's just me (Mark, 26) and my wife (Kathleen, 26) going. Pretty stoked, can't wait to cruise around Europe with a whole group of people we don't know yet!

Mate, the time is flying by, which is cool, because I can't wait! We'll definitely be in contact via email to chat leading up to the trip! Let us know if you find out other people are coming on this trip!

Cheers!

Looks like I'm on this tour now as well. My April 20th UE tour was just cancelled yesterday! Luckily managed to switch to this one and not get charged any penalties for re-booking flights etc.

Anyway, looking forward to the trip and hope that this one doesn't get cancelled too Smiler

My email is bjsnell@gmail.com if anyone wants to get in touch off the boards. You can get me on Facebook too with that address.

Awesome, two more people joining the tour! BJ Rumour has it that this tour has already been confirmed by Contiki! Sweet! We were worried about cancellation for a while too.

We'll be sure to email you all some time soon.

Cheers

I'm going May 2nd. I'm with Ashley and Lindsey (Shark) The trip was confirmed last week and is a Guaranteed departure. Also the May 2nd May forth is that the American version was you leaving the night of May 2nd and arriving in London on May the 3rd. Spending the remainder of the day in London. The Australian version picks up on our third day (Australian first day) leaving from London to Paris. So basically the US version counts the flight as a day of travel and spends one more day in London. For the Australians, what is the Compulsory food fund of A$945?

Hooray! More people Smiler

This is much better than checking these boards only to be disappointed by no posters.

Hey Chris, good news it's a G Departure now. After my tour was canceled it's always a bit of a worry that the next one will be too.

The food fund is basically Contiki removing the food cost out of the overall tour price and charging it separately. I don't know why they do it as it's compulsory to pay for. I guess it makes it look a little cheaper when you look at the tour price without the food included. I'm from Auckland, NZ and the food fund for us is $1209NZD.

Has anyone received their full information pack yet, with the final itinerary and information about the places we're staying at? I haven't got anything other than what's on the website at the moment.

I think we get the trip pack 3 weeks before we leave our respective country, which for me is in 6 weeks, so hopefully I'll get the info pack of fun in about 3 weeks...let you know if there's anything particularly interesting...if it doesnt arrive then you guys will have to fill me in Wink I'll be somewhere in China...
Payment wise I think you have to pay within 45 days of departure or something, although i think it should be on your statementy thingy. It quite possibly varies from country to country and my memory isnt fantastic so don't quote me on it. I realised mine was due today and had a slight panic but got it sorted...give them a call and check methinks.
YAY for adventures Smiler

Sweet, so 3 weeks out hey... Hmmm, cool.

Chris, are you doing the Egypt option, or are you doing the Greek Island option with Shark?

Katyana, would be cool heading off to China before the tour. Are you aware of any other visa's we require, other than Egypt and Turkey, and do you plan on getting those before we leave, or at the border? What's cheaper and easier do you think?

So what does everyone plan to take? For now we have just thought of the basics like clothes, sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries etc... Is there anything you think we should consider based on what you may have experienced or read elsewhere?

Anyway, hope all is going well...

Cheers!

To my knowledge we as Aussies dont require any other visas except Turkey and Egypt. According to our Government, Turkey can be bought at the border (which is what I'm going to do). Egypt I'm not sure, trying to track down their info.
Aus Gov advice and links for visa/travel info.

the Turkish embassy website and Egypt Consular website wasnt very helpful with info about visas, maybe I just missed it... (http://www.turkishembassy.org.au/, http://www.mfa.gov.eg/missions/australia/sydney/consulate/en-gb/)
Unless Contiki states otherwise in the info pack im going to get the visas as we go, my passport is tied up in other visa applications before I leave.

And yes, I am going to China before UE, decided to take a month long stop over, flying in to HK then travelling up to Beijing before heading over to UK which should be fun. Got some mates in HK so will be good to see them again Smiler

hope you're all having a tops week!
