For those about to go on this trip, I think you'll really enjoy it. My girlfriend and I arrived in Rome 2 days early to explore on our own. We took a day trip down to Pompei, which took about 2.5 hrs each way by train. The weather held up and we only had a little rain on the day we arrived. The rest was sunny to partly cloudy. Bring a coat! Venice will be COLD. Florence and Rome were not as bad because they are more Southern. But night time activities can get chilly. Our tourguide Mathieu was great. He really knew the history and stories of the sights we visited. Although the price quotes he gave us to do certain activities were off a little. Like the prices had gone up since he checked last. lol But that was ok. Be sure to have lots of available cash! While we were there it was roughly $1.60 USD = 1 Euro! Ouch. Our tour group was a very friendly and fun bunch. One week wasnt enough time to get to know everyone like I would have like to. So, there's the basics. Below is a link to the pictures I took. Enjoy and feel free to ask me any questions. http://www.flickr.com/photos/thorpeland/sets/72157603308887973/
hey thorpe ..nice pictures.. im charlie im the guy that cancel the italian espresso tour for the same days that u and your girlfrind went. well after reviewing your comments i guess the tour was not bad at all. but i have no regreats im going to australia down under next month so it will be very nice and warm lol.. and again the pics are very nice.. by the way yes the us dollar against the euro is really bad ouchhh but it is not as bad as the british pound i went to london last year and oh boy it was really bad too expensive. but now that im going to australia the US dollar is more stronger than the AUS dollar..
