Hey Everyone,
I'm NOT going on your trip but i've travelled with Contiki and would like to offer some advice:
If you plan on taking a credit card to Europe, you may want to call your credit card company to let them know you'll be travelling so they don't think the card has been stolen and cut you off.

Another thing I recommend is carrying your cash in a money belt, I find it safer.

Plan on spending $100-$150 USD per day. You'll have to buy lunches daily, souveneirs, some dinners and going out at night. You should try exchanging money before you leave. You'll have to chance to do so on the tour, but easier to get that part out of the way and have one less thing to worry about.

When you pack, throw some clothing into your carry-on to lighten the weight of the suitcase and in case your luggage gets lost. Leave room for souveneirs & carry with you an extra copy of your pasport and hotel address list.

In terms of weight of luggage, it's the airlines that are more strict than Contiki. Each airline has their own weight threshold & will only be too glad to charge you extra for going over. You can find out the limit/rules by going on the airline's website.

Feel free to ask me anything else.

hello all ,,,
william c you are so right in more ways than one im sorry if i put any one off , i went on this tour for a stress free and happy time saddly this didnt happen Frowner i went with my bf we had nothing but disapointment and let downs treated like childen by the tour manager watched other tour members be spoken to like nourty kids hotel rooms full of mould and flooded bathrooms Frowner

felt we spent more time in the over heated bus than seeing the sights , they dont book any musems or any thing unless you want to get up at 4 am and pay your own way to the city and wait 3-4 hours in a line in 40 oc heat then this is the holiday for you ,

the free dinners are small and taste 2nd day old left overs ,,, you have to tip and pay for a service charge this includes paying for the bath room ,,,

and for the love of god take a watch as if you are 5 min late you will be left behind Frowner this happend to one girl on the tour very sad day for her ,,

over all a waste of $1600 n.z

Ok i have just been reading the posts here and come on guys what do you expect....an 8 day tour in Italy....its not Luxembourg and yes you will have to travel a long time to get to different places and see different things....some of the people on here are so deluded, going on a tour and expecting to see all these things for a minimal price, minimial time (8 days?) and not have to travel anywhere to see them....der thats what travelling is all about. My advice is go over with a VERY open mind and be prepared to travel for a long time to get to places ...have you looked at a map of Europe, i suggest you do and look at how big these countries actually are. Good on you contiki for providing awesome tours at an excellent price !!!
