Hey where is everyone planning on staying in New York? Ian and I will be at the contiki hotel the night before the tour starts but before that we will be at a place called the Hotel Davinci. It's really close to Hooters! which is more about the buffalo wings than the girls.

I'll be at the contiki hotel for two nights before the tour starts and I'm also staying in Chicago for an extra two days after the tour.

Hey guys, Im booked in!!!!!! how exciting. I will be staying with the Beacon the night before and the contiki hotel in Anehiem for a couple of days but I will more than likely be staying at the Chelsea Star during my stay in NY. Boys I have read reviews about the DaVinci and I think you are taking your lives into your own hands with that one. But we will have to catch up for drinks while we are there because as it turns out I will be staying in NY for about a week and a half now. COOL HUH!!!! Smiler

A friend of mine stayed at the da vinci last year, and she said its good. should be fine. where abouts is your hotel heather? ours is north of times sq, about 8 blocks. if you havent been to NY, a block is probably 100 metres, so dont be put off by distance, its easy to get around. Hey if you girls want to catch up before the tour, email me at iancrofskey@gmail.com. we can get a group email going.

Hey Heather, I looked up your hotel on the internet and it looks cool. Are you doing the bunk room thing? I'm not to worried about staying at the Davinci, Ian and I a quite tough. I once almost touched a dog, thats how tough I am.

Anyone keen on going to a baseball game while in New York. Yankees would be great but the Met would be cool too.

My sis don't really mind about not getting into night clubs. she said she'll wait until we get to canada and then get totally inebriated.

Yes I am strange but oh well it keeps me from going nuts!

Heather you might want to head to the shops with my sister Sarah. you may need a retractable leash for her though to keep her away from really expensive stuff. Oh keep her away from any manolo blaniks, for the love of god! she also wants to go to MOMA as well. she is a big Monet and Van Gogh fan. so you may have an art buddy to go with the day that I want to go to ground zero cause she isn't that keen to go there.

Ooh I can't wait to meet everyone. it is going to kick some major butt.

Heather, as a NYer, I can tell you that you can't be near all those things. Madison Square Garden is at 8th Ave and 33rd Street, Greenwich Village is below 12th street, and Central Park is in the 60s. Since Manhattan is an island, there is water on all sides, so I can't tell you how far you are from water. Don't worry, though, everything is very easily accessible by subway. Good Luck!

One more thing, as a GUIDE, 20 street blocks or 5 Avenue blocks is ABOUT 1 mile. Sorry, we aren't metric, so I don't know how many meters that is.

Ooops my bad. Ahh well I guess I will just have to get lost everywhere. Im from Perth there isnt a lot over here so my distances etc suck, and all the streets having numbers instead of names is going to confuse me =)Anyway, I am going to go nuts at the shop Claire you might have to have a leash on both of us....shoes drool drool. Unfortunatly I will be backpacking for 12 months while in Canada so my spending will be limited. I was thinking of going to ground zero but hadnt made up my mind about it yet. Was there anyone wanting to go to a Braodway show with me? Hey we really should start up an email thing cause this forum is going to get really long soon.

We must make this the longest forum in the history of Contiki. Then someone will video it and put it on youtube and we will become famous!! I'm keen for a broadway show, even if it has singing and dancing in it. Oh by the way I bags the seat next to the window just behind the back door of the bus.

I fear rings. What if they get stuck on your finger and you can't get it off?. Do you have to buy it? Rings are expencive! I love chocolate.

just doin my bit to increase the length of this topic. Thanks for the info stage gal. 1 mile is 1600 metres so 1 street block is 80m and 1 ave block is 320m. Its no sweat to walk 10 blocks, and subways are very convenient for going further distances. Heather, your hotel is not too bad in location, i stayed at hotel penn, opposite mad sq gardens, and its not too far to walk to times sq, but its a long walk to grenwich village. closest subway is probably mad sq gardens though.Paul, whats with the ring thing?
