    i'm going on the tuscany tour on may 5, 2006 and i
wanted to see who was going.  this will be my first time with
contiki, my first time to europe, and i can't even describe how excited
i am!!!!  i'm staying 2 extra nights, one before the tour and one
after, and i'm going solo.

So I got some guidebooks for Rome, and I think I'm gonna take a bus or
the metro from the airport to somewhere near the hotel and walk the
rest of the way.  I don't know exactly where the hotel is
yet. 



Where are you coming from?  Have you done a Contiki tour
before?  I'm coming from Philly, and I have a bunch of friends
that rave about Contiki, which is how I heard about it. 



That's pretty good Italian....I forgot about 90% of what I learned in
school and I'm cramming like mad to relearn something! 

Hi Lou-  If the responses on the message board reflect the number of travelers on the tour--looks like there won't be any fighting over a window seat on the bus. 

I'm coming from Hawai'i. I have been to Italy once before.  It will be my first time in Tuscany and my first experience with Contiki tours.

Walking from the metro sounds like a plan.  I checked the hotel website and they are supposed to have a courtesy shuttle from the train stop (Giustancia). 

Are you spending your extra days in the Rome hotels booked by Contiki?

Hi, I'm also going on the May 5th tour, but I'm leaving May 3rd to get to Italy early. I think a taxi to get to the hotel is the best bet. I'm staying in the Prime Hotel Roma Cassia. Are either of you staying in that hotel as well? I've never gone through Contiki but it looks like a lot of fun, and right after the Italy tour, I'm taking a train, underground chunnel, and ferry to stay in Southern Ireland for a 9 day tour. So I guess I'll be travelling alone a lot, lol. I just wanted to see how old most people were who were going, and maybe get to know a few of you before we leave, so that I don't end up hiding in a corner.
