Hi all,

Is anyone else doing RTA starting the 17th April? My husband & I have booked our trip and are SOOOO excited! This will be our first trip overseas, and we're a bit nervous, but I'm sure it will be a blast. We'd love to hear from anyone else doing this tour!

Cassy.

Hi Cassy, My husband and I are also thinking of doing this tour, well either this one or one of the ones leaving on Apr 24 or May 01. I have read some of your other posts and noted your comments on why you chose this time of year - these are our reasons too - avoiding the tourist rush (hopefully!) and the HOT temperatures. I note that the May 01 trip is the only guaranteed one at this stage - so if we're a little worried about the one we pick being cancelled cause we need to book flights!! We chose the "timeout" one for the same reasons also - our own room!! Love to hear from you.

Hey Sarah!

We thought about doing the guaranteed departure as well, but I think it's a bit dearer (not much though). We really wanted to do the tour at that time, because it will be our 4th wedding anniversary on the 19th April, so this is like our "proper" honeymoon.
I think if you book your flights with Contiki, if something happens and your trip gets cancelled, they can refund you the full amount. Not too sure about this, but it's what I've seen on a few posts before.
Will this be your first trip overseas? Since this is ours, we're going all out - we'll be going back to London for 5 days after the Contiki tour, then off to Cairo to do an 8 day tour of Egypt before heading home. We thought we'd get the travel bug out of our system (or try to!!) before having kids, so we took out a loan that we really can't afford to, and we're doing it all!! We're hopeless at saving but great at paying things off, so it won't be too big of a deal.
How old are you guys? David is 26, and I turn 25 in January, so we won't be out getting pissed every night - just a few social drinks. I get motion sickness if I can't look out a window while travelling, and I don't want to have a hangover at the same time!!
I hope you guys decide to do this tour - it looks like it will be awesome fun! Talk to you soon!

Thanks for your message - congratulations on your 4th anniversary! Matt and I would have just had our 3rd (in Feb). Matt's 24 and I'm 28. We have been overseas but not together, and the furtherest was to Aust! So will be a new experience for both of us. We've been thinking about a trip like this for ages but haven't got further than that until now and decided we'd better do it now while we have the chance! Had many a discussion about what to do and where we want to go - but with $$ being a factor, we're keeping it simple(ish). Think we'll stay for a few days in Greece when tour finished, then back to England and Scotland before returning home. Hopefully we'll get another chance to go back sometime soon to see the places we'll miss. Had considered doing it all ourselves - buying a Eurail pass, but unsure about whether it would be a bit too stressful.

Hey Sarah,

We also had thought about touring Europe ourselves, but I prefer the idea of having everything organised already - all I would do otherwise is stress constantly about getting lost!

I hope you guys decide to do this tour - it would be great to catch up in person!
