hi everyone, im coming from sydney australia on my own. i just booked the trip a couple of days ago. is anyone going to be in athens the night before the tour starts?

Btw is nobody flying via Amsterdam airport? I also read online (and my friend told me) that you can take the metro from the airport to the city center, it'll take about half an hour or so. I think that's much cheaper then taking a taxi. Just don't know where the hotel is and if it's easy to get to. But guess we'll have to find that out when we get our traveling papers.

I agree we need a facebook. But guess we should wait till we meet everyone else.

Does anyone know what cruise company we will cruise with?

my flight arrives at 8:55 so if you are getting in around that time we could meet up...i have to spend an extra night in athens at the end because when the cruise lets off too late and all the flights back to the states are in the morning...did you run into that problem as well?

I just got my traveling papers, and I saw that we only have 1 optional excursion. While the website gives about 5 or 6. Do you have that aswell?

i think the travel papers mentioned that the optional activities for the cruise will be given to us when we get on this ship...do you know what time we meet the group in the hotel on monday? i dont remember reading that part...i'll definaely meet up!! there are some things i want to check ou tthat we are nto gona get to see....2 weeks!!!

And I had the same thing, couldn't find the meetnig time. But didn't it say we had to look at the contiki message board at the hotel? Could be that it's in there. And otherwise we'll probably hear it when we check in or something!
What are the other things you'd like to see? And count me in if you don't mind!

The last time i went to greece we just drove by the temple of zeus and did not get to actually see it and it is not on our trip so I had wanted to check it out...we can definately meet, i am a little nervous about checking out the city on my own!...also does your cruise ticket have your name on it or anything bc mine only has information about the cruise

Ehm I did see my name on the vouchers, but only on the first voucher, not on any other voucher. But I guess it'll be all right.

Everytime I've been in Athens for work I haven't done anything but lay at the beach and enjoy the sun. So count me in to discover Athens!

I just spoke to my travel agent and we will get the paperwork when we get there....also she said we meet the tour between 6 and 8 at night so that gives us a good amount of time during the day to check out the city!!!

Nice! Almost a whole extra day! That's cool. I just mailed my agent to ask for an extra day, so I will probably arrive the 16th. So we've got all day! Great!

any idea about what you are packing? i bought a bunch of plain tank tops in different colors for during the day, maybe dresses at night? are we going to have a chance to be in our bathing suits on the cruise or do you think its all touring?

Hey Cara,

I have 'bad' news, I won't be arriving the 16th because it will cost me about 125 euros for an extra night. That's a bit too much for me. So I won't be in Athens before 15:00 Monday the 17th. Of course I'd like to join you that afternoon if that's still possible.
For what I take with me, dresses for during the evening, (and maybe also during the day). And tops for during the day, no sleeves etc. And I guess one long sleeved shirt. And I would absolutely take my swimsuit with me. I'd say we've got time to swim, we've got a whole day sailing to Istanbul so guess we have time to swim! And besides what does a bikini weigh? :P
