Hello all ... my best friend and I are leaving Canada and arriving in London, staying there for a few fun-filled days and then leaving for Munich on the 2oth with Contiki. We are going to be going on the 7 day trip in Munich and then going off on our own to Amsterdam from there till October 6th.

We were hoping that other cool and interesting individuals that indulge in beer and whatnot will also be joining us ... and well, hope to find out some fun and interesting things prior to our arrival.

If you're going, we're already booked, we would love to speak with you and find out what you're up to ...

Hopefully we'll speak with you sooner than later!!!

Whatever there loss. There advertising a contest on 102.1 for a Contiki trip to Oktoberfest. It would piss me off if I won it after I've paid for it all! But funny.

That's awesome Jacinta!! It sounds like there will be quite a few 'soldiers' coming on this trip - should be good times. Are you going to be in London before the group leaves? I believe there will be a group of us at the Royal National a few days before hand ... predrinking is the plan and you are encouraged to join us!!

CHeerS!

Very cool!! We don't arrive until Monday unfortunately - but that's alright!! Perhaps on the evening of the 19th, quite a few people are arriving that night as well. Either way, it's going to be a blast. Have fun working ... we'll see you when it's all over!!

Any insider tips on where to go while we're there for the few days .... we both haven't been to London ...but aren't necessarily overly keen on all the big sites and whatnot .... any good shops or pubs we shouldn't miss in your opinion??

Hmm it really depends on what you are into, I guess. I love all the historical sites so I'm right into the touristy thing and would spend my time seeing all the iconic sites of London. Most of the sites are really close to each other and if you just wanted a quick look you could see Trafalgar Sq, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, London Eye and Tower of London in under 2 hours. But like I said, it depends on what you like.

Pubs ... hmm so many to choose from!! If you are only here for a few days I would go to Leicester Square (which is only a couple of tube stops from Russell Square) and have a wander around there. Definitely go to a proper English pub and try a real ale (not lager!) even though they aren't very tasty :-) You can just bar hop through here ... there are so many to choose from!! You will find heaps of shops, restaurants etc in this part of the city. If you have time, you should go to a theatre show. If you did want to see a show have a look on lastminute.com ... they have some really cheap tickets to see some awesome shows. Camden markets are meant to be (I still haven't made it there) unreal and very alternative!!! Also you gotta see Harrods in Knightsbridge, its a very impressive shop, although extremely over priced :-) Hope this is a little bit helpful to you. If you think of anything else, let me know and I will help you as best I can. Jac

I found that www.visitlondon.com really helps you plan things out and gives you an idea of where you want to go.
