Hi Terry,

Yeah, am keen on the 8 day Great Britain tour starting 14th May. Is this same one you're talking about?

I think so. I think the tour is available as Great Britain only, Ireland only or Great Britain & Ireland.

I'm doing the whole lot. Sounds like you're doing GB only which must be the first 8 days.

So, where you from Explorer001? Is this your first Contiki tour?

Yup, I am going for the "Britain Only" trip as it's the only one which fits my schedule. Will the "Britain Only" group and the "Britain + Ireland" group travel together initially and later break off on the 8th day?

I am from Singapore and yup, this is my first Contiki tour! Big Grin I am rather excited, but at the same time, a little apprehensive as I've heard some not-so-nice feedback from some friends. What abt you?

Everyone is nervous at first. Don't worry. Are you travelling alone?

I believe the tour will be together for 8 days around GB and then some people will stay for Ireland, some will leave and new people doing Ireland only will join.

I have done 3 Contiki tours before: Canadian Rockies, Hawaii and New Zealand. I had a great time on each.

Not sure what the not-so-nice feedback was with regards to.

If it is the partying and drinking, I am definitely not a party animal but I still had a good time. If people want to go out and party all night/every night, they go. If others want to go back to the hotel after dinner they do that. I have never felt pressured on tour to something I didn't want to.

If it is the hotels, don't expect 5 star. The hotels are usually quite basic but clean. This is a 'Timeout' tour so it is hotels and not camping.

As for the staff, the driver and tour guides have always been excellent and I've never had a problem with them.

Will you be arriving a day or two before the trip?

Wow! You're great! You've addressed almost all my queries! Ha! Yeah, I'm alone this trip, but I'm really glad to know that my travel buddies will be fun, but not too wild. I'm game for a drink or two, but not getting wasted every night. That will be too exhausting for me!

Yeah, I'm arriving the day before in the evening. What about yourself? Where are you from?

Hey Explorer001 and Terry,

I'm on the Great Britain/S. Ireland tour, too. In fact, a bunch of our tour mates have already met on another post re: 14 May 2009. I think we're a full/sold-out tour. It's going to be lots of fun.

I'm not much of a party animal either, so I'm glad to know that other people on the tour will be the same! I can enjoy a drink or two for the social aspect of it, but I'm definitely not interested in getting wasted every night. I'm a pretty laid-back person.

I've travelled with Contiki once before in Australia and had a fantastic time, so I have no doubt that this tour will be amazing as well.

I arrive the morning of the 15th (and the tour officially starts that evening at 6pm I think).

Looking forward to meeting you both Smiler

By the way, how old are you? I'm 25 and I'm afriad that I'm going to be the oldest person on the tour! When I was 24 in Australia, there were only two other tour mates who were older than I was!

Don't worry. I think I will be the oldest on the tour. I'm 35. I just couldn't bring myself to book on an open age tour.

I cannot find the post you refer to. There is one for 14 April but I can't find another for 14 May.

Woo hoo! More people!

A couple people have been on these tours before, and I know you mentioned the whole 'not getting wasted every night' thing...is that what usually happens? Haha...

I wish we were leaving SOONER!
