Hi

I'm on the Wild Western but it's great to find someone else going.  I'm doing the tour solo as well.  I've found two people from the UK who are doing the Western Highlights and I've found a fellow Canadian who will be on the Wild Western.

Hi Lillypoo,
I'm one of the two brits steph was referring to and my friend Kate is the other one! I think the LA to the Bay, Western Highlights and Wild Western tours must be together for the first 8 days cos the itineries for all the tours are the same. How long are you in the states for altogether? Kate and I are there for a month altogether celebrating our 21st birthdays this year!!!!! Well I was 21 in november 05 but kate is 21 on the 4th august. We'll be in new york then and what a night thats gonna be ha! ha!

Hayley!

Anyone going to Alcatraz?  Have to book your tickets while ahead of time but they aren't yet available for the date we'll be there.

Hi Steph,

I'm arriving in San Fran on 28th July (staying with a friend) and going to Alcatraz the following day.  My friend booked my tickets about a month ago but it looks like you can still get tickets up to about a week ahead..

Check out the following website for more info..

Hope this helps,

Hey Hayley!

Wow how awesome would it be to celebrate your 21st's o/s!!!  I'm 30y.o and this is my first o/s trip (yes I was a deprived child) LOL. I'm pretty excited!!  I'll be staying in San Fran with a friend and on my own/then arrive in Anahiem a few days before our tour starts.. am trying to get shared accom. in their hotel so will give me a chance to get to know at least one other beforehand..

It's great the tours are combined like that.. sounds like there will be a diverse group (Also hoping I'm not the only grandma on the tour hehe - although I don't look or act like an old f*rt!!!)

Have an awesome time in NYC and look forward to meeting you and your friends

Hey sameera,
We're travelling to new york first, then on to La for two days, we meet up with contiki here for the western highlights tour ending in las vegas, then we stay in las vegas for a couple more days, before going to san francisco , then onto chicago. Apart from LA we're spending on average 5 days in each city!!! Its gonna be the trip of a lifetime hopefully. We intially would have liked to go to miami but couldn't fit it in. I'm in university and go back the beginning of september you see!!!

I LOVE Australia, my friend kate and I travelled around Australia in 2003, we went melbourne, phillip island, blue mountains, sydney and surfers paradise and didn't wanna come back to the UK!!!! That was definately a once in a lifetime trip!! We went in August which is your winter isn't it? Well the whether in your winter was hotter than our usual summers!!!, all the residents were dressed in wolly jumpers and trousers and we were walking about in vest tops and shorts lol, people must have thought we were mad!!! They do say you can always tell the Brit in a crowd lol

So when do you arrive in the states?

Hayley

Hi Hayley,

WOW! What a way to spend to your uni break. I wont be surprised if you are still in holiday mood once your back. You guys have definetly seen the world, its good time to go when you have uni breaks. i really regret not going o/s whilst at uni, now i have to rely on good ol' annual leave.

Thats good to hear that you love it here. its soo laid back here, i dont want to move. Haha yeh i guess itd be more colder in UK. You are lucky to live there  tho as you can go to Spain, France etc.. anytime. There are heaps of Aussies in UK, im thinking of even working there as the culture pretty much the same but good location in terms of travelling. you guys comming back to australia. best to come is our summer, the beaches here are beautiful. Is this your first time to the states? Yeh i wanted to squeeze in bahamas or hawaii but no time Frowner

I'll be arriving in LA on 6th August, leaving 4th Sept. When are you leaving? How did the shopping go?

Speak soon, Sameera

Hi sameera,

We leave the uk on the 03rd august ariving in new york!!! I cant wait noe its only  week today lol, no its not my first time to the states. I went to new york in december of 2003 but only for 5 days to do some serious ******mas shopping lol which i loved. I'm also doing that again this year with some guys from work!

I'm definately gonna go back to australia, I'm hoping to come and work there when I qualify as a nurse as I hear australia are really short on nurses whereas in the U.K there are no jobs in most places and in some places they are even making people redundant lol. I did fid life in australia laid back and the total opposite to here in the uk. we rush around everywhere and try to do 60 hours of work in a 37 and a 1/2 hour week lol.

What do you do?

Hayley

Hey everyone

Just wanted to mention it in this thread...... for the pre-trip meeting we're gathering outside of the bar/restaurant and looking for Hayley (since she's posted a picture of herself).

I can't wait!

Hey Hayley,

Im looking fwd to going to NYC, im going there on my last week in America. Hopefully there is enough space left in the suitcase. It wouldve been nice to have a winter ******mas, very lucky.

Exactly, we are short on nurses and even hairdressers. The weather is no different from UK esp if you decide to work in melbourne. Sydney has more of a fast paced life style.

I have been working in the IT industry for abt 2.5 yrs now, my first time finally getting a break after I finished uni. The IT industry here is very demanding, i wouldnt mind working in the UK just for the experience.

Goodluck with the packing, if i dont message you on this, have a safe flight and see you next week! Whuuhoo!
