Hey Guys!

this is my first tour and my first overseas trip and im doing it by myself.

is anyone else doing this trip? it would be good to meet up with a few people before the tour starts.
im staying 3 nights in Anehiam before the tour and 3 days after the tour in San Fran.

Im planning on doing the Western Highlights tour which I think is the same one your doing, I just end in Las Vegas rather than San Fran!

Im flying into SF on the 1st and staying 3 nights, then 3 nights in LA and then the final night before the tour in Anaheim.

Its also my first time doing anything like this completely on my own!

Whats happening people

This is my first time to America and I can't wait. Im doing the Western Highlights tour which I believe is the same bus except I finish up in Las Vegas, while you carry on.

Im doing this by myself, so would be cool to get to know someone before hand.
I am flying in to LA 2 days early and am staying 2 nights in Anaheim.

After I do this Contiki tour I am off to the East Coast - Boston, NYC, Washington etc

Seems to be alot of Australians doing this trip, where all the Kiwis at

Also on this tour.  I've been chatting to Mellissa but thought I should announce myself to the rest of you as well.  I get in the day the tour starts so will probably only get to meet most of you at the briefing unless you are hanging around the hotel.  Have a couple of extra days in SF at the end before heading to Cuba, which I'm a bit nervous about!

Are you for real going to Cuba .. that would be a blast ... I wonder if its like the movies and has big potraits of Castro everywhere.
Why did you choose to go there? Is it like somewhere you have always wanted to go? Really into fine cigars?

Did you do a Contiki European tour last year? Have you done a lot of traveling ... you will have to share all your veteren experience

Yeah really going to Cuba.  I wanted to go because I'm interested in the politics of it all.  Would have loved to have seen the USSR before communism collapsed and figure this is one of the last chances to see something similar (and a lot more pleasant than North Korea!).  So wanted to get there before Castro drops off the twig and the Americans move in and built resorts everywhere!  Figured since I have to transit through LA I may as well see a bit of the US as well.

I did do a Europe tour last year.  I did the Simply Italy one, and then followed on with a tour through Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Germany and Paris with a different company.  That was my first big trip.  Have also been to New Zealand and Vanuatu although that barely counts as overseas!

That sounds totally awesome .. you arnt some sort of Political Science major are you?
You seen all the movies on the Cuban Missle Crisis and stuff? Crazy times, its insane when they look back retrospectively and show how close things were to full out war

So you gots to give everyone the low down on what to expect with the Tour since your the Veteren.
Sounds like your European tour musta been a blast .. so many coutries with so much history. Do you follow much of the history of the places?

No not a political science major.  I'm a full time worker but doing a BA part time with a history/archaeology major.

Happy to answer any questions that people have about touring.  Haven't been to the US before but the whole bus trip part can't be too different.

I did love NZ I'm ashamed to admit!  I actually went back with a couple of girls I met on my first trip for NYE last year to Auckland.  Which part are you from?

Your BA sounds pretty wicked, I did a Ancient History paper at Uni as an elective. Was considering it as a major, but there isn't to many jobs you can get with a history major, I ended up doing Economics and Finance as double majors.

Do you do any practical work for your Archaeology? After America my number 1 place I want to visit is Egypt.

Hello there, I'm from London and I'm going with a mate from Switzerland ( although she went to college in the usa ) we know each other from working on an american summer camp in 2004. Knowing I love the US decided this would be great and Pursuaded Tessa to do it as well. Im arriving the say before to the pre hotel and so;s my friend. We then stay over one night post in san fran and then fly back to la for one last evening in the city of angels and one day to fit in last min LA stuff flying out late on the 19th. Anyways should be great! Also. They say they cant defo confirm the tour until 45 days b4 cause of numbers. So am a bit sceptical about booking my flight although I have to do it soon. anyone have any thoughts on this?

Good to hear there are some more people doing the tour on the 8th. There is a few of us going to Disneyland on the 6th and 7th, you guys are more then welcome to come along
