I will arrive to Barcelona with Flyglobespan airline from Edinburgh at 12.40 pm.

TRANSFER FROM THE AIRPORT TO HOTEL:
I plan to take train (Renfe) or bus from the airport to the Catalunya Square and then get from the Urquinaona Square to Llacuna Station by subway (the yellow line, number 4). Hotel Confortel Barcelona is just in a few minutes walk from the Llacuna Station.
That's currently my plan.

I will be grateful if someone will suggest a better route from the airport to the hotel .

that was my plan too, however, this was the route that I found.
bus 46 from terminal A or B
Get off at Espanya station to take the L1
from L1 go to Urquinaona Station to take L4
from L4 go to Llacuna Station and then walk 2 blocks.

i don't understand what the Renfe train is. from their website, it looks like it carries passengers from city to city, not destination within a city.

1. Bonbon, "Renfe" - is the name of the company which provides transfer from the airport to the centre of Barcelona by train. “Renfe” is also mentioned on the web-page which you gave me http://www.tmb.net/en_US/barce.../planols/planols.jsp.

2. Information about the transport in Barcelona airport is published on the airport's web-site http://www.barcelona-airport.c...ng/transport_eng.htm.
There are numbers of trains, buses, prices for tickets, duration of trips, web-links to the official schedules for particular transport.

3. The route from the airport to the hotel which I suggested in my previous message I have got from one of the Confortel Barcelona Hotel's adverts in the Internet http://www.wego.com/hotels/spa.../confortel-barcelona.
I have checked the route on the map - it is OK, looks rational.

4. How to get from Catalunya Square to Urquinaona Square?
There are neighboring metro stations in Barcelona with the same names - Catalunya and Urquinaona. You can just move from one to another by metro, red line (L1).
I think, the stations should be very close to each other. I plan to orient on the place, for example, ask some on the Catalunya Sq.
